Job Description:

Job Summary: The Radiologic Technologist I-IV provides information used to diagnose patients by operating radiologic equipment to produce patient images. Daily tasks require precise work and attention to detail as well as adherence to strict safety procedures. Responsibilities such as, but not limited to, assisting physicians in Radiology, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Endoscopy, fluoroscopy, Orthopedics and Oncology.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Performs procedures as ordered and obtains images according to written protocols.
  2. Adjusts equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
  3. Positions patients' appropriately using immobilization and protective equipment as directed by the provider.
  4. Organizes and accurately performs the individual steps in established procedures in the proper sequence. Reviews, manipulates, and evaluates images to deliver high quality diagnostic images. This includes any required post processing at remote workstations.
  5. Performs and documents quality control on equipment according to manufacturer guidelines or department protocols; recognizes and takes appropriate action for abnormal results. Reports equipment problems and failures to Bio-Medical or Manager.
  6. Transports patients within the guidelines defined by JPS Health Network.
  7. Monitors accessory equipment and assists providers with fluoroscopic procedures. Must be able to closely follow providers' instruction to obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
  8. Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique, emergency medications and equipment.
  9. Applies and follows radiation safety principles (i.e. ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles) to ensure patient and staff safety.
  10. Ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions while maintaining tact, maturity and a positive attitude.
  11. Understands and uses Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other software related to job responsibilities.
  12. Provides a safe and clean environment; ensuring operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. Reporting equipment problems to Biomed and supervisor/Manager.
  13. Provides education and training to affiliated radiologic technology programs. Provides orientation and training to new technologists. Assists with the training of new providers (residents) and Radiology PA's.
  14. Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
  15. Works in any area of diagnostic radiology, clinic or Tarrant County Correctional Health department as deemed necessary by supervisor / manager.
  16. Ability to work in variable environments and locations.
  17. Performs routine assignments using existing protocols/procedures, and has conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within own discipline, typically acquired through technical training.
  18. Develops competence by performing structured work assignments, and receiving instruction, guidance, and direction from others.

Qualifications:

    Required Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree or equivalent from JRCERT approved school of Radiologic Technology Science.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R).
  • Certified by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologist Technologist (MRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment is required.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Surgery experience is preferred.
  • Fluoroscopy experience is preferred.
  • Trauma experience preferred.
  • Venipuncture
  • Point of Care Testing
