Mission: Track/Mentor/Support the VAA's (Value Added Assemblers) that are suppliers who assemble suspensions, headliners, consoles, and also mount & balance tires on wheels and ship them in sequence to the GM assembly plant.
As VAA Execution Supervisor , you will have supervisory responsibility for a medium (4 to 6 people) group of employees executing 3rd party VAA suppliers to support new program launch and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. You will build and maintain good working relationships with employees, plant teams and 3rd party suppliers.
This position will be responsible for the VAA's readiness to meet quality targets throughout launch and will act as a liaison between VAA, GM launch teams and the vehicle assembly plant. Ensures that VAA's are treated as an extension of the assembly plant in terms of support, but also expectations to follow GMS/BIQ principles. Candidate must be comfortable working directly with VAA plant management to resolve concerns and to integrate as a member of the VAA staff level team. Will work with the support of GM 3rd party VAA manager and GM VS ME VAA leader to fill in any launch related gaps identified along the way. Lead the above activities for all VAAs in your assigned plants/launches in GMNA.
What You'll Do
Safety
- Follow all Site Safety Guidelines
- Urgently support resolution to Safety and Ergonomic Issues
People
- Attend VAA Liaison start of shift meetings
- Attend GM cross shift ops meetings to represent VAA's and to for information sharing
- Implement weekly VAA launch wall
- Attend launch planning calls
- Conduct layered audits at VAA and include VAA staff in LDT layered audits
- Develop and updated VAA monthly score card
- Support BIQS certification of VAA's
- Support VAA Launch readiness checklist reviews (RV and SV)
- Ensure VAA's are using Masterdot to ensure launch readiness
- Ensure VAA's have appropriate human resource plan to support launch
- Communicate lessons learned to SMT's
Quality
- Work directly with VAA and GM support organizations to resolve Quality issues identified at VAA
- Provide general oversight and guidance for Quality Operations and process controls within VAA Manufacturing systems
- Attend VAA Quality meetings and drive problem solving to reduce FTQ defects
- Review / investigate major quality defects coming from VAA (go/see process)
- Assist VAA with PRTS documentation and issue resolution (with support of QE IRT's)
- Ensure timely containment and corrective action to quality issues
- Assure VAA's are represented at 5F, GCA and other quality reviews
- Support PFMEA reviews and ensure appropriate error proofing is in place to support quality
Responsiveness
- Support run at rate builds
- Ensure VAA has line balance that supports quality and throughput
Cost
- Drive assigned Warranty Reduction Initiatives
- Support 3rd party manager as needed on cost of quality or product complexity decisions

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 5+ years previous experience in the associated sub-system (assembly plant and/or product) or program management assembly related or launch related
- 4 year degree in a related field OR equivalent experience in process and tooling
- Strong analytical ability
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills
- Good Presentation Skills
- Understanding of Short Lead Time
- In depth PFMEA knowledge
- Up to 50% Travel to Assembly Plants and travel to VAA Supplier Facilities
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- 5+ years' experience (Processing, Tool or M&E development or Launch management)
- Engineering degree
- In Depth knowledge of the VAA Commodities
- Plant Experience
- Understanding of GVDP (Global Vehicle Development Process)
