LaunchDarkly is seeking an experienced Director of Data to lead our Data Analytics and Insights function. You will manage our existing team of Analytics Engineers, shape our data platform, define the team’s mission, vision, and operating model, and hire as needed to flesh out the team. You will guide the growth of the data organization as we scale beyond a single team and work with stakeholders across the company to deliver metrics that matter to the business. This role requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate across departments to drive data-driven decisions and foster a culture of analytical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive data analytics strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals.

• Form strong relationships with stakeholders in cross-functional departments and drive cross-functional strategic projects.

• Proactively assess the needs of our stakeholders and build the fundamental units of reporting used for solving various business problems.

• Collaborate with senior management to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and deliver actionable insights.

• Lead, mentor, and expand the analytics team to support business growth and needs.

• Manage the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to support decision-making processes.

• Oversee the development and maintenance of scalable data infrastructure and analytics platforms.

• Ensure data integrity and compliance with data protection regulations.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by introducing innovative analytics techniques and tools.

• Communicate complex data concepts and the implications of data analytics findings to non-technical stakeholders.

• Prepare and manage the department’s budget and resources effectively

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in the data disciplines and 3+ years in a leadership role.

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Experience at a SaaS startup in the scale and growth phase.

• Excellent leadership and team management skills.

• Ability to go deep in the details of data modeling and ETL design when necessary and translate those details into a language our non-technical stakeholders can understand.

• Strong understanding of data management, data warehousing, and database design.

• Expertise in analytics tools and software such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, and Power BI.

• A sense of empathy and willingness to understand others' viewpoints.

• An appetite for learning and teaching.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams

Pay

Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level M4:

• Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or New York City Metropolitan Area (if not Bay area specific role): $230,000 - $270,000**

• Zone 2: Boston, DC, Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Seattle: $207,000 - $243,000**

• Zone 3: All other US locations: $195,000 - $230,000**

LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency; we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

*Within the United States, our geographic pay zones are defined by counties surrounding major metropolitan areas.
