This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Austin, TX or Warren, MI, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum
The Role:
The Data Science Senior Manager of Experimentation in Applied Analytics & Insights (Digital, Customer & Growth Businesses) will drive experimentation strategy and execution for AA&I and serve as an experimentation evangelist for EDAI (Enterprise Data, Analytics & Insights). You will also lead a talented team of data scientists and data engineers who will drive solution design, development, and deployment of statistical and AI/ML models to solve complex business problems and improve decision making.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with groups within and outside of EDAI to drive and enable an experimentation culture to improve business decision making. This role requires an expert understanding of A/B testing, multivariate testing, and application of advanced statistical methods and AI/ML to solve complex business problems. The candidate will have proven leadership skills to inspire innovation and excellence across the team. In addition to being able to coach and mentor the team, strategic thinking, strong business acumen, business consulting, and planning skills are a must.
As a leader with a strong technical background, you will also lead a team of hands-on data science practitioners who are focused on scaling data science work and accelerating time-to-delivery in experimentation. You may also lead work related to casual inference, propensity models, personalization/recommendation systems, pricing, forecasting, and anomaly detection. Additionally, you will collaborate with our Decision Science team to identify project opportunities, frame projects, and develop solutions that drive significant business value.
You have balance - you can strike the right chord of technical leadership and coaching, humbly elevating and advocating for your team - with an equilibrium of storytelling, showing influence and strategic focus for peers and leaders of supporting functions, enabling them to drive revenue growth and efficiency.
What You'll Do:

  • Develop a strategy to enable a culture of data-driven decision making, including promoting the importance of experimentation within and outside of EDAI via data literacy initiatives.
  • Lead a community of test & learn experts, intermediates, and novices to share experimentation wins/learning and ideate on test ideas to improve experiment outcomes.
  • Partner with technology teams and other stakeholders to enhance and maintain the technical infrastructure required for efficient and scalable execution of experiments.
  • Manage a team of data scientists, providing guidance on scalable experimentation processes and capabilities, including test design, analysis, and interpretation of results.
  • Regularly report on the progress and outcomes of experimentation initiatives to senior leadership and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Lead and manage a team of data scientists, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to ensure successful project delivery and professional growth
  • Develop scalable data science solutions that speed time-to-delivery and have significant business value for our Digital, Customer & Growth Businesses
  • Develop and oversee the execution of data science projects from ideation to deployment, ensuring they meet quality, scope, and timeline objectives
  • Collaborate with Decision Science and Data Engineering teams, along with business stakeholders, to identify, frame, develop, and execute high-impact analytics projects successfully
  • Lead a cross-functional team to develop and implement data science solutions that address business challenges and deliver value across a variety of business units.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements in data science and AI/ML to drive innovation within the team
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing within the data science team and broader community
  • Manage and allocate team resources effectively to support project needs and team growth


Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Science in a corporate setting
  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial data science role
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Marketing, Physics, or other quantitative field
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale experimentation programs that have driven significant business impact
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing on analytical strategies that drive results; must be entrepreneurial
  • Deep understanding of statistical modeling, experimentation, machine learning and/or deep learning techniques, including one or more of the following analytical methodologies: casual inference, propensity models, personalization/recommendation systems, pricing, forecasting, and anomaly detection.
  • Proficiency in data science programming languages such as Python or R and data science packages such as numpy, pandas, and TensorFlow
  • Prior experience with Cloud platforms such as Databricks /Azure or AWS
  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques
  • Proven track record of managing data science projects from concept to implementation, delivering impactful business outcomes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to translate complex technical details into clear business insights.
  • Strong business consulting skills; ability to evaluate the big picture and solve strategic business problems
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to hire, lead, mentor, develop, evaluate, and retain high-performing talent.


Additional Description
Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is $172,900 - $264,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
