Summary:
Part of a team of financial professionals that design plans and implement solutions for clients with complex planning needs. Provides in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge and case consultation, reviews tax and financial documentation, and assists in the delivery of customized comprehensive financial plans. Uses subject matter expertise to assist in the development and delivery of customized plans for high-net-worth clients and businesses. Must bring income tax knowledge, financial planning acumen, and strong communication skills.
Primary Duties & Accountabilities:

  • Active collaboration with other CPA team members to build financial plans with an emphasis on estate, business succession, tax optimization and executive compensation strategies.
  • Analyze clients' financial statuses to recommend strategies that drive client decision making.
  • Assist with analyses that examine and position financial solutions with focus on Northwestern Mutual's approach of integrating investments and life insurance.
  • Assist other CPA team members with presentations to advisors and clients.
  • Build and leverage relationships within the division to help address unique client circumstances in the high net worth marketplace.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of tax accounting, preferably in a role assisting HNW clients and/or advisors.
  • Existing knowledge and willingness to deepen in areas including tax optimization, estate, business planning or high net worth strategies.
  • Advanced designation such as CPA required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with client-oriented approach to translate the complex to understandable.
  • Advanced skills with tax scenario software and/or excel desired.
  • Team player, with the ability to work with others frequently.


Compensation Range:
Pay Range - Start:
$75,180.00
Pay Range - End:
$139,620.00
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
