  • Comfortable and confident on camera

  • Skilled in video editing and storytelling

  • Obsessed with creator trends and video storytelling

  • Strong communicator who can connect with creators, partners, and users

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience creating and editing YouTube content

  • Experience appearing on camera in video content

  • Strong understanding of YouTube content formats and audience behavior

  • Experience writing high-performing titles and designing thumbnails

  • Passion for AI tools like ChatGPT, Premiere, and Kapwing

Interview Process

As part of your application, you are required to make one original YouTube Short using this article: Best AI Video Models of Realistic Animals. If we choose to publish your video on the Kapwing YouTube channel, you will receive a $100 payment regardless of whether you advance in the interview.

    Video Task

Review the article and develop your own creative angle for turning it into a YouTube Short. You’ll choose the concept, framing, and title.

The article is information-dense, so we’re looking for strong editorial judgment: identify what’s most important, shape it into a short-form story, and make it engaging for a YouTube Shorts audience. The article also includes media assets you’re welcome to use in your video.

    Video Submission Guidelines

    • Length: 30 seconds — 120 seconds

    • On-camera: For this video submission, you must present to the camera
    • Tone: Review the Kapwing YouTube channel and mimic our current tone of voice and style

    • Goal: Transform the long-form article into a short, punchy video that is informative and genuinely useful, while also being engaging, fast-paced, and well-suited to YouTube Shorts.

    • We are evaluating submissions based on originality, creative judgment, audience awareness, editorial instincts, and editing quality. We are especially interested in ideas that feel native to YouTube and aligned with Kapwing’s brand and product. You should use the article as a source of key points and adapt them into an engaging YouTube video, not simply read it word for word.

      • Originality: A clear, fresh idea rather than a generic recap.

      • Audience awareness: Strong understanding of what would catch attention and provide value to Kapwing’s audience

      • Hook and structure: A compelling opening, clear pacing, and a format that holds attention through the end

      • Editing quality: Strong visual execution, timing, captions, music/sound design, and overall polish

      • Platform fluency: Content that feels native to YouTube Shorts rather than repurposed from another platform

      • Brand fit: A concept that aligns with Kapwing’s voice, product, and creator-focused positioning

What We Do

Video editing is the final frontier of software tools moving to the cloud. We're making the next generation of modern creators tools to enable everyone to share their story online. Join us at Kapwing on our mission to make content creation fast, accessible, and collaborative. Everyone is a creator. The problem, however, is that today's tools get in the way of expressing our creativity fully. Especially when it comes to video, the gap between an idea and a video is wide enough that it's hard to even start. Our mission at Kapwing is to make content creation easier and more accessible. Our main product, Kapwing Studio, is an online video editor that is both powerful and easy to use. Millions of creators every month choose Kapwing to tell their story and bring their ideas to life. Our vision is to build a modern video editing platform that serves as the go-to tool for anyone creating video for Youtube, social media, or work. Being in the browser allows us to turn video editing, a traditionally heavyweight, time consuming workflow, into a joyful, collaborative, and fully-featured experience. We believe that we can use technology to augment the video editing and content creation experience, and we've already started on this path with a wide array of templates, applications of artificial intelligence, and new pipelines for exporting and video processing. While software is the core of our product, being creative is the core of our work. Every team at Kapwing, from engineering to content to customer success, values trying new things, moving quickly, and helping creators in new ways. Join us on our journey to democratize creative tools and invent the future stack of video creation.
