POSITION SUMMARY:

 This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Design and Digital Associate creates communications for our members, program participants and future members that reinforce YMCA brand standards while conveying the impact of our programs to the community. This role will be responsible for the design, development and production of creative messaging for projects such as advertising campaigns, direct mail, digital marketing, environmental signage, brand ID, Canva template creation, and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Writes/designs and produces high-quality marketing materials including signs/signage,program guides, Canva templates, brochures, fliers, and banners for branches,departments and special events in accordance with Y-USA branding guidelines.

2.Assists with ongoing assessment and content updates on the Y’s website, maximizing the user experience and aligning website content with the YMCA’s marketing and communications strategies.

3.Assists Marketing team & branches with aligning social media sites with YMCA’s Marketing and Communication strategies.

4.Assists with monitoring branch social media and website traffic.

5.Articulates creative concepts and rationale to other team members and colleagues throughout the association.

6.Actively participates in department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.

7.Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Recent graduate or actively pursuing degree in Communication, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, related field or comparable experience

2.Knowledge of digital photography and website content management systems preferred but not required

3.One year of graphic design experience preferred (internship or freelance work considered)

4.Skilled in the following software applications: Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, and Acrobat – as well as Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint5.Proficient in graphic design, illustration, typography, photography, and printing processes

6.Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

7.Effectively manage a multi-project workload in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

8.Work well within a team comprised of people of multiple disciplines

9.Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause and culture, program specific training, and CPR/First Aid training (provided by the YMCA). 

10. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.

11.Follow youth boundaries, policies, and abuse risk management training.

12.Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities. 

13.Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift.
