Company Description
The Express is looking for a World News Editor to lead our international news coverage both online and in print. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role within our newsroom. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record at delivering brilliant exclusives, fascinating features and fantastic page views in equal measure.
Working with the Head of News and Head of Features, you will be full of ideas for agenda-setting stories and instinctively know how to drive the big stories of each day forward and how to drive as many readers as possible to them.
You will be equally adept at covering everything from the war in Ukraine to over-tourism in Tenerife - all in a way that differentiates us from our rivals. You will be managing a talented team of reporters and constantly coming up with ideas for both them and other members of our wider team.
You will ideally have newsdesk experience on a national website or paper, agency or a busy regional title and have strong organisational, managerial and people skills. A deep knowledge of and passion for world affairs is absolutely essential.
We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.
This role is home and hub-based linked to our London Canary Wharf hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.
