MEET THE HR TEAM

Ready to join the heartbeat of BetterMile? Our small, mighty HR team (currently 6 members, soon to be 7!) is looking for a talented and highly detail-oriented Working Student to focus on HR Administration and Payroll. We play a crucial role in enabling and empowering our entire product organization to thrive.

You'll be stepping into a high-impact role that provides immediate ownership and significant professional growth. You'll work closely with our existing team, internal and external partners, to form the critical engine that ensures the smooth, supportive operation of all our internal processes.

YOU WILL BE TAKING CARE OF

This role involves handling core, high-impact administrative tasks that require accuracy and a high level of confidentiality. You will:

  • Streamline travel operations and expense management with accounting

  • Handle employee contracts and confidential paperwork, ensuring all documents are accurate, up-to-date, and properly filed

  • Play a key role in on- and off-boarding, ensuring surgical accuracy in documentation and systems

  • Be the bridge, linking the HR team, employees, and external partners (payroll, legal, etc.)

  • Master leave management with complex calculations

  • Drive data insights and analyze different metrics

  • Guard compliance essentials, conducting crucial check-ups, e.g., on work permits and vacation validity

YOU CHECK THESE BOXES

  • You have a solid grasp of HR basics and knowledge of German labor law

  • Your English is fluent

  • High level of accuracy and detail-orientation. Typos and errors in this field are a no-go!

  • You are motivated to build a career in HR

  • You light up when given ownership and autonomy, you are driven to learn and grow

  • Ability to flexibly come to the office in Berlin-Kreuzberg to handle urgent on-site tasks and necessary meetings

  • Must: you are enrolled as a student in a university in Germany

IT IS AWESOME IF YOU ALSO HAVE

  • Experience in an HR Admin or People Operations role

  • Experience working in a startup environment where processes are not always set in stone and require proactive involvement

  • A B1 or higher level of German proficiency or a strong willingness to learn and improve
