The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 YMCA Workforce Development Cohort, launching this September!

As part of a statewide initiative, the Y’s mission is to empower young people, strengthen communities, and build the next generation of leaders. By joining, you will not only gain paid work experience but also discover career opportunities within one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the country. 

Our Workforce Development Program is research-driven and designed to prepare students for success in today’s workforce. Through a combination of career readiness training, hands-on experience, and professional mentorship, participants walk away with valuable skills, meaningful connections, and a stronger sense of confidence in their future. 

 

What You’ll Gain 

  • Compensation and Credentialing
    • Earn up to $2,500 during the Cohort

Hands-On Experience 

Rotate between three dynamic career tracks to gain well-rounded skills:

  • Youth Development where you will engage with children and teens in educational and camp settings
  • Member Experience and Engagement where you will build hospitality, customer service, and community relations skills
  • Mentorship and Networking
    • Connect with experienced YMCA leaders and community professionals
    • Receive one-on-one mentorship designed to help you succeed in your future career

Eligibility Requirements 

To be considered for the YMCA Workforce Development Program, applicants must: 

  • Be a current high school junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Be eligible to work in the United States and provide proper documentation
  • Be able to complete a minimum of 250 program hours during the cohort
