Job Title: Worker's Comp Paralegal
Pay Range: $31.25 to $34.62 per hour
Performance Based Bonus: bonuses tied to performance

Position Overview
Johnson Law Group is seeking a Paralegal to join our Workers’ Compensation team in Chicago. This role supports attorneys throughout the lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases and is ideal for a paralegal with prior experience in workers’ compensation or a strong interest in developing specialization in this practice area. The position works closely with attorneys and clients in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide paralegal support throughout the lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met
- Draft and prepare workers’ compensation documents, including applications, petitions, responses, and settlement agreements, for attorney review
- Organize, review, and summarize medical records relevant to workers’ compensation claims
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and responding to inquiries professionally and empathetically
- Apply Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission rules and procedures for filings, hearings, and case progression
- Conduct factual and legal research related to Illinois workers’ compensation claims
- Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness files
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files within the firm’s case management system
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience as a paralegal, preferably in workers’ compensation or personal injury
- Familiarity with Illinois Workers’ Compensation laws and procedures
- Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
- Professional demeanor and commitment to client service
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree
- Paralegal certificate
- Bilingual proficiency
Compensation & Classification
- Hourly, non-exempt position
- Eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable Illinois and federal wage and hour laws
