Description

Shook & Stone is a leading Nevada-based injury and disability law firm committed to delivering exceptional results for our clients. We are known for our strong case flow, operational support, and team-driven environment. The firm is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Managing Attorney to lead and help grow its Workers’ Compensation division.

This is a leadership role for an attorney who is equally comfortable advocating for injured workers, managing active litigation and hearings, developing attorneys and staff, improving department systems, and driving accountability across a high-volume legal practice. The ideal candidate will bring Nevada Workers’ Compensation experience, sound legal judgment, operational discipline, and a genuine commitment to helping injured workers obtain the benefits, medical care, and compensation they deserve.

The Managing Attorney will oversee the Workers’ Compensation division in collaboration with the Case Management Team Lead and will report to the COO and Managing Partners.

Key Responsibilities

The Workers’ Compensation Managing Attorney will be responsible for leading the legal, operational, and strategic performance of the Workers’ Compensation division. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supervising the Workers’ Compensation division, including an associate attorney, paralegals, case managers, and support staff, in collaboration with the Claims Management Team Lead.
  • Maintaining an active caseload, including handling hearings, litigation strategy, client communication, and case progression.
  • Providing legal oversight and quality control for Workers’ Compensation matters from intake through resolution.
  • Representing injured workers in Nevada Workers’ Compensation proceedings, including hearings and related litigation matters.
  • Developing, refining, and enforcing division-wide systems, SOPs, workflows, KPIs, and accountability standards.
  • Training, mentoring, and developing attorneys and staff to improve legal quality, client service, productivity, and consistency.
  • Monitoring case movement, deadlines, hearing preparation, medical treatment issues, settlement opportunities, and overall file quality.
  • Partnering with intake, pre-litigation, litigation, operations leadership, and case management to ensure efficient handoffs, strong communication, and consistent client experience.
  • Identifying process improvements and helping implement scalable systems for division growth.
  • Supporting strategic planning for the continued expansion and improvement of the Workers’ Compensation practice.
  • Ensuring the division operates with professionalism, ethical compliance, strong client advocacy, and a culture of accountability.
  • Helping build a team environment focused on compassion, excellence, communication, and results.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Nevada.
  • Ability to manage an active caseload while also leading a department.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with legal, case management, intake, litigation, and operations teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and advocacy for injured workers.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of Workers’ Compensation experience.
  • Prior leadership, management, or supervisory experience.
  • Nevada Workers’ Compensation hearings, appeals, and claims litigation experience.
  • Plaintiff-side or claimant-side Workers’ Compensation experience.
  • Experience developing legal workflows, SOPs, KPIs, training systems, or department accountability structures.
  • Experience working in a high-volume legal environment.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to step into a meaningful leadership position with a growing plaintiff-side Workers’ Compensation practice. The Managing Attorney will have the ability to shape department standards, mentor team members, improve systems, and directly impact the quality of representation provided to injured workers throughout Nevada.

This role is well-suited for an attorney who wants to remain active in legal practice while also taking ownership of a division’s legal quality, operational performance, team development, and long-term growth.
