Position Summary
The Workday Financials Analyst is responsible for the configuration, administration, support, and continuous improvement of Workday Financial Management modules. This role serves as the primary subject matter expert for Finance-facing Workday functionality, partnering with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to optimize financial business processes, maintain system controls, and deliver reporting and analytics that support financial operations and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
System Configuration & Administration
Monitor and resolve support tickets for Workday Finance
Own configuration and ongoing administration of Workday Financials modules including Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expense Management, Procurement, and/or Projects
Design, build, and maintain Workday financial business processes, approval workflows, condition rules, and security configurations
Manage financial configuration across production and sandbox tenants
Support bi-annual Workday release cycles including feature review, testing, and Finance stakeholder communication
Finance Stakeholder Support
Serve as the primary point of contact for Finance and Accounting stakeholders on Workday system questions, issues, and enhancement requests
Translate Finance business requirements into Workday configuration solutions that maintain appropriate controls and audit trails
Coordinate and conduct user acceptance testing with Finance partners
Develop and deliver end-user training and documentation for Workday Financials functionality
Reporting & Analytics
Build and maintain Workday financial reports, dashboards, and composite reports to support Finance operational needs
Partner with Finance leadership and Accounting to deliver reporting on GL, cost center performance, AP aging, expense trends, and other financial KPIs
Ensure financial data integrity and support period-end close activities within Workday
Controls & Compliance
Maintain Workday financial system controls in alignment with internal audit and SOX requirements where applicable
Support internal and external audit requests related to Workday Financials configuration and access
Manage segregation of duties within Workday financial security domains
Projects & Continuous Improvement
Lead or support Workday Financials project initiatives including new module deployments, process redesigns, and integrations
Proactively identify opportunities to improve Finance processes through better use of Workday functionality
Document configuration decisions, business process designs, and system changes
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business, or related field
4+ years of hands-on Workday Financials configuration experience
Proficiency in Financial Accounting and at least two of: Accounts Payable, Expense Management, Procurement, Accounts Receivable, or Projects
Experience building Workday financial reports and supporting period-end close processes
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial business processes
Excellent communication skills with ability to work effectively with Finance and Accounting stakeholders
Preferred
Workday Pro certification in Financials or a related area
Experience supporting Workday in a SOX-compliant environment
Familiarity with Workday EIBs and financial data integrations
Experience with Workday Prism Analytics or Adaptive Planning
CPA, CMA, or equivalent accounting credential

Skills Required
