Job Title: Workday Application Developer

Summary:
The Workday Application Developer will design, build, configure, and maintain Workday integrations, business processes, reports, and dashboards for the Baltimore County Office of Information Technology. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Workday in HCM, Payroll, and Financials, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Candidates must have at least two (2) years of Workday administration or technical support experience, and a Workday certification is required.
Required Qualifications:
- Workday Experience Minimum two (2) years of experience in Workday administration or technical support, including HCM, Payroll, Financials, or Reporting. Demonstrated success in Workday implementation or post-production environment as a primary technical resource
- Education Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Workday Certification Required
- Technical Skills Experience with Workday tools, including EIB, Studio, Core Connectors, Web Services (SOAP/REST APIs), custom reports, calculated fields, custom validations, and condition rules
- Integration Management Experience creating and maintaining integrations between Workday and third-party systems, monitoring scheduled integrations, resolving failures or inconsistencies, and documenting integration design and data flows
- Reporting & Analytics Ability to develop and maintain Workday reports and dashboards, translate business requirements into Workday solutions, and automate report scheduling and distribution
- Business Process Knowledge Strong understanding of HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT business processes with the ability to analyze and resolve process or system issues
- Collaboration & Support Strong teamwork skills, including providing technical support, documenting workflows and configuration, maintaining security of sensitive data, and participating in change control processes
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex Workday system or integration issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, build, test, and deploy Workday integrations using EIB, Studio, Core Connectors, and Web Services (SOAP/REST APIs)
- Configure and maintain Workday business processes, calculated fields, custom validations, and condition rules
- Develop and maintain Workday custom reports and dashboards to support business and compliance needs
- Monitor integrations, troubleshoot failures or data inconsistencies, and optimize performance
- Document integration design, configuration, and data flow processes
- Provide technical support to users and maintain system documentation including design specifications, workflows, and configuration guides
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams to align Workday functionality with business needs
- Participate in change control and configuration management processes
- Gather and document business requirements for change requests and system enhancements
- Maintain security and confidentiality of proprietary or sensitive data
