JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Office of Undergraduate Students is seeking two or three current undergraduate students for the Federal Work Study job of Office Assistant for the academic year of 2026/27. Please attach your class schedule with your resume and cover letter.

Job duties include:

  • Greet and assist: students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Provide general administrative support and assist staff as needed for the Office of Undergraduate Students and the offices associated with it
  • Assist with events – meeting caterers, setting up and cleaning up event.
  • Assist with filing, restocking supplies, setting up meeting spaces, and tidying shared areas.
  • Receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming packages
  • Monitor shared spaces to keep them student-friendly and welcoming, ensure student supply closet and collaboration rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use
  • Monitor the student supply closet: taking inventory, checking students out, and informing staff of low products
  • Other duties as assigned

  •   Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

  • Penn State Student with an eligible Federal Work Study award
  • Preference will be given to current Eberly College of Science Undergraduate Students
  • This is an in-person position in the Ritenour Building
  • Work hours will take place Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Hours can vary up to ten hours per week
  • The starting hourly rate for this job is $12.00
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • High level of reliability and responsibility

Federal Work Study job performance is evaluated either annually or through ongoing mentorship. Students who received a Federal Work Study award have the opportunity to obtain a job and perform related duties either on campus, or remotely, if possible and at the discretion of the employer.  Students applying for Federal Work Study positions should clarify expectations with their potential employer regarding either on campus/in person or remote work arrangements.
