This role focuses on implementing an SEO-first WordPress architecture, which involves building robust structures like topic clusters, pillar pages, and effective taxonomy. A key objective is to significantly improve internal linking, crawlability, and overall site performance. The position also requires the development of automation workflows using n8n and integrating critical external APIs such as Ahrefs, Google Search Console (GSC), GA4, Slack, and various CMS platforms. Ultimately, the successful candidate must ensure the WordPress system is capable of supporting high-volume content and facilitating multi-region and multi-language growth. Key Responsibilities
1. WordPress Architecture & Development
- Architect and maintain a scalable WordPress system capable of supporting thousands of SEO blog pages.
- Implement custom permalink structures, hierarchical URLs, and SEO-friendly routing.
- Build or redesign:
- Pillar pages
- Cluster structures
- Custom post types (CPTs)
- Taxonomies (categories/tags)
- Custom templates for category → pillar page UX
- Implement custom Gutenberg blocks for SEO widgets (internal links, CTAs, TOCs).
- Optimize:
- Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, FID)
- JS/CSS load
- Image size and rendering
- Cache layers (server cache + WP cache + CDN)
- Implement structured data (Schema.org):
- Article
- Breadcrumb
- WebPage
- FAQ
- Product (if needed)
2. Advanced SEO Engineering
- Design and implement topic cluster architecture:
- Parent pillar page structure
- Cluster URL hierarchy
- Internal linking logic
- Canonical strategies to avoid cannibalization
- Build automated internal-link modules:
- Programmatic linking widgets
- Distribution models based on impressions/priority
- Rule-based linking inside clusters
- Improve crawl efficiency:
- Sitemap system design
- Robots.txt management
- Faceted navigation control
- Pagination best practices
- Work with the SEO team to improve:
- Indexation
- Duplicate content handling
- Redirect management
- Page quality signals (helpful content)
3. Automation & n8n Workflow Development
- Build n8n workflows to automate:
- Google Search Console data extraction
- Google Analytics data syncing
- Ahrefs API keyword extraction + filtering
- Slack notifications / daily SEO insights
- Content audits
- Meta data QA (titles, descriptions, canonicals)
- Develop automated:
- Keyword → cluster mapping
- Content gap detection
- Internal link opportunity analysis
- Weekly/Monthly SEO insight dashboards
- Connect n8n with:
- WordPress REST API
- Google Sheets / BigQuery
- Slack
- Ahrefs API

4. Collaboration & Project Ownership
- Work closely with:
- SEO lead
- Content team
- Product managers
- Design/UX
- Backend developers
- Translate SEO strategy into technical implementation plans.
- Document all systems using best practices.
- Maintain high code quality using version control (Git).

Technical
- 5+ years WordPress development (themes + plugins + API)
- Expertise in:
- PHP 7/8
- MySQL
- REST API (WordPress + external APIs)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Custom post types (CPT)
- Taxonomies & hierarchical routing
- Template hierarchy
- Permalinks & rewrites
- Gutenberg block development
- Experience optimizing Core Web Vitals

SEO Engineering
- Deep understanding of:
