Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled WordPress Developer with strong expertise in building, customizing, and optimizing WordPress websites that deliver exceptional user experiences. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, understands modern performance and SEO best practices, and is equally comfortable working with designers, marketers, and backend engineers.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites for our client and internal projects.
- Build custom themes and plugins from scratch following WordPress coding standards.
- Optimize website performance for speed, security, and scalability.
- Implement responsive designs and cross-browser compatibility.
- Collaborate with designers, content teams, and backend engineers to translate business needs into functional, high-quality websites.
- Integrate APIs, third-party services, and advanced WordPress functionalities.
- Ensure sites are SEO-friendly and meet accessibility (WCAG) guidelines.
- Maintain code quality through Git-based version control and code reviews.
What We’re Looking For
- Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of professional experience in WordPress development.
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and MySQL.
- Experience with custom theme and plugin development.
- Strong knowledge of WordPress hooks, filters, and best practices.
- Familiarity with page builders (e.g., Elementor, Gutenberg) without over-reliance.
- Experience optimizing Core Web Vitals and website performance.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and integrating third-party services.
- Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows.
- Bonus Skills:
- Experience with WooCommerce, membership sites, or multisite setups.
- Familiarity with headless WordPress (e.g., WPGraphQL, Next.js).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Understanding of security best practices for WordPress in enterprise environments.
What Success Looks Like
In 3 months, you’ll have shipped high-performance WordPress builds for multiple projects, established repeatable coding standards for the team, and contributed to improving our development workflows.
