The specific digital marketing services we offer include website creation, website hosting, search engine optimization, paid search ads, display advertising content marketing, social media management, online review management, email marketing, brand development, and strategizing /consulting.
We are looking for a passionate WordPress Developer to join our team! You will be responsible for creating, maintaining and troubleshooting WordPress websites including both back-end and front-end development.
Note: This is a full time, permanent, salaried position consisting of 40 hours per week. Your working hours may occasionally or permanently need to include some time spent on Saturdays or Sundays to support our help desk. We can be somewhat flexible and this can be discussed further in your interview, but please apply understanding that some weekend work may be required for this position.
Requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Design, implement and manage client websites using WordPress
- Convert comprehensive graphic layouts and wireframes into working WordPress websites
- Manage front-end and back-end website development
- Install, configure, and customize commercial WordPress plug-ins and themes
- Create, maintain, and debug custom developed WordPress plug-ins and themes
- Act on and communicate with client requests for their websites through our support desk, including email and phone communication with clients
- Maintain well-documented, reusable, and transferable code
- Solve theme compatibility issues, plugin conflicts, and accessibility concerns
- Work with client domain name registrar accounts and customize/change DNS records
- Migrate websites from server to server when needed
- Work with our server provider's support team when necessary to troubleshoot and correct issues
- Engage in our team meetings to provide updates on work and communicate issues and ideas
- Use our project management tool to record tasks and track time spent on projects
- Stay abreast of new developments in web development trends and practices
- Other tasks given by management
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Proficiency using and developing in WordPress
- Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and jQuery
- Experience using debugging tools such as Firebug and Chrome Inspector
- Strong understanding of front-end and back-end website development
- Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
- Understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial)
- Experience using cPanel and WHM
- Understanding server technologies and DNS records
- Be flexible enough to use commercial and/or custom built themes and plug-ins
- Keen attention to detail
- Showcase integrity and a positive attitude at all times

Sryde Digital Marketing is a small company, and hence versatility of its team members is very valuable. Preference will be given to developers who have skill in and/or are willing to learn and work on other areas of our services to clients, including:
- UI/UX/graphic design, especially of websites
- SEO implementation
- Social Media campaigns
- Google or Facebook advertising platforms
- Copywriting for clients
- Analyzing website statistics to recommend improvements
EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND:
- A College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or equivalent experience
- A significant amount of experience working with and developing in WordPress is a necessity

JOB SETTING:
This is a virtual, "work from anywhere" position. You will be provided with access to cloud-based tools and software to use on your own computer to work from. You will need to be connected to certain tools (internal staff messaging system, project management tool, help desk tool, phone) while working.
Although this is a virtual position, preference will be given to those living in or around the Niagara region, where our other employees reside in case we would like to have in-person meetings or gatherings on rare occasion
WORKING DAYS AND HOURS:
This is a full time, permanent, salaried position consisting of 40 hours per week. Your working days/hours can be somewhat flexible but as stated above, some weekend work may be required for this position. This can be discussed further in your interview.
COMPENSATION:
Salary will be based on your skillset, experience, and willingness to learn and execute other areas of service for our clients outside of development. You will also receive a comprehensive benefit package paid for by the employer.
