Wordpress Developer

Intersog® is a Chicago-based provider of software engineering, custom development, and IT consulting solutions. We help companies address IT talent by building dedicated software development teams either locally in the USA / Canada / Mexico or in our R&D centers in Ukraine.

We are looking for a great WordPress and web developer to help our company. The WordPress Developer responsibilities include building websites from concept all the way to completion from the bottom up, fashioning everything from the home page to site layout and function. This position will work alongside web designers and other marketing team members as necessary.

This position is remote and self-paced. You can work from anywhere with a good Internet connection. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can devote at least 20 or more hours per week, with the possibility of expanding to a full time position.

What you will be doing:

• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
• Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
• Design and develop custom WordPress themes and plugins
• Maintain and optimize the performance of existing WordPress websites
• Remotely troubleshoots and debugs WordPress issues
• Remotely performs regular maintenance tasks and security updates
• Collaborate remotely with designers, and stakeholders to ensure website functionality and usability
• Research and remain knowledgeable and up-to-date of new WordPress features and best practices
• Monitor plugin updates, WordPress updates, and overall site performance
• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
• Cooperate with web designers to match visual design intent

Who you are:

• You're an excellent communicator, fluent in both verbal and written English, who makes sure nothing slips through the cracks
• You are meticulous about checking your work for errors
• You have a lot of experience using WordPress and can work with other platforms
• You are very organized and you can use Google drive
• You must be good at self-direction and taking initiative
• You are detail-oriented and meticulous
• You’re a self-starter who loves taking initiative and seeing things through from conception to completion
• You have the curiosity and desire to learn and grow your skills.
• You're passionate about leaving your mark on the web for all to see and are excited to work on tasks that impact millions of users
• You take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of your work rather than just doing it to get it done
• You're a team player who is comfortable working along side and helping others

• 3+ years working with WordPress (ability to code a WordPress site from start to finish)
• Top-notch programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
• Knowledge of PHP, jQuery, MySQL, Google Webmaster Tools, etc.
• Must know how to set up SSL certificates
• Proven working experience in web programming
• A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
• BS in computer science or a related field
• Experience with SEO techniques - This is a bonus!
