The Role

Technology has always been a core component of Disney's heritage, from the first multi-plane cameras used to film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, to lifelike robots used in numerous theme park attractions, to MagicBands and on-demand digital content distribution. As our Cast Members and Guests come to expect increasingly available mobile connectivity, so does the reliance on services provided by the Wireless Network Services team as part of Disney Enterprise Technology. We deliver technology services for major Disney brands such as ESPN, ABC, Marvel, Parks & Resorts, and more! We are looking for a world-class Wireless Network Engineer who will help drive architecture, engineering, and solution design for Disney's wireless network infrastructure across the Walt Disney family of companies.
The candidate for this role will assist with the development and delivery of architectures and guidelines for the planning, design, staging, and configuration of wireless access points, and related network equipment. This position will be encouraged to collaborate extensively with other network engineering teams, business unit engineering teams, and service suppliers to ensure proper alignment with wireless architectures and standards.
The Wireless Network Engineer will help develop, test, deploy and manage configurations and architectures for wireless technologies and will support wireless architects on the team in the delivery of quality wireless network solutions and configurations. They will participate in selected projects and work with external vendors and internally with other operations teams, IT architecture teams and different business units. The applicant will require hands-on configuration work in a technology lab setting and live production environments, following all applicable change control, configuration management, and other processes. This candidate will also develop and generate documentation including, but not limited to, configuration standards, test plans, evaluation reports, technical bulletins, bug scrubs, technical roadmaps, and architecture standards. The Wireless Network candidate will plan, design, stage, and configure wireless access points, switches, and controllers, and will be tier 4 point for monitoring and ongoing maintenance of the network. This position provides technical support and consultation and ensures 24x7 operational support and maintenance.
What you will bring:

  • Experience with large enterprise Wireless networks (20,000+ devices), preferably Cisco and Aruba
  • Robust knowledge of Wi-Fi RF characteristics and signal propagation, and authentication methods
  • Experience with wireless packet collections and analysis
  • Experience with Cisco Prime/DNAC and/or Aruba Airwave/Central
  • Cisco Wireless Certification (CCNP)
  • Other industry wireless certification (CWNA, CWDP, CWAP, CWSP)


What you will be doing:
A day in the life of this Network Automation Engineer includes the following:

  • Help develop and define architecture and standards for access points, antennas, cabling, and controllers across the enterprise
  • Understand business and technical requirements, review estimates and proposals for solutions based on those requirements, and develop and deliver solutions to meet requirements
  • Assist with preparation and review vendor bid proposals for solution delivery
  • Develop deep understanding of wireless product capabilities and how to configure and deploy those capabilities in Disney's environments
  • Test, Develop and publish a technology footprint and design standards processes for wireless hardware and software
  • Assist with development, testing, and publication of configuration standards for all wireless environments based on deep technical understanding and collaboration with vendor sophisticated resources
  • Develop solution designs and participate in peer design reviews
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on solution automation
  • Provide tier-4 incident support and resolution


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years industry experience with large enterprise Wi-Fi networks, preferably Cisco and Aruba
  • Understanding of Wi-Fi RF characteristics and signal propagation, including experience working with predictive and active surveys using tools comparable to Ekahau, Hamina, or Airmagnet


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in relevant technical area plus professional certification
  • ITIL Certification
  • Professional certifications above associate level on major platforms.
  • Innovative demeanor with a continual desire to learn
  • Wireless certifications at the associate level from industry leaders.
  • Wireless network analysis fundamentals and robust solving skills
  • Dnac/Prime/Aruba experience
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Knowledge of enterprise wireless authentication methods including 802.1x, EAP, RADIUS, etc.
  • Familiarity with switch and VLAN configurations
  • Understanding of Internet Protocol networking fundamentals


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
