Be the first friendly face or voice for pets and the people who love them!

Have you always wanted to be part of a brand-new, state-of-the-art resource center where helping pets and people is at the heart of everything you do? The Connecticut Humane Society (CHS) in Wilton, Connecticut, is looking for two enthusiastic, compassionate Receptionists to join our team!

This is more than a traditional reception position. You’ll play an important role in supporting our Public Clinic and Shelter, while creating a welcoming, positive experience for every person—and pet—who call or walk through our doors.

What You’ll Do

As a Receptionist, you’ll be the first point of contact for the client experience. You’ll interact with clients in person, by phone, email, and text while helping them navigate a variety of veterinary and shelter services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming clients and their pets with professionalism, warmth, and compassion
  • Checking clients in and out for veterinary appointments and shelter services
  • Assisting clients with pet surrenders
  • Scheduling appointments for clinic and shelter services
  • Answering phones and responding to emails, texts, and other client communications
  • Obtaining medical records by communicating with veterinary clinics, rescues, and other organizations
  • Entering and maintaining accurate information in multiple computer systems
  • Processing payments and other monetary transactions
  • Providing basic education and guidance regarding medications, after-care instructions, pet surrender, and post-adoption expectations
  • Working closely with veterinary, shelter, and other CHS team members to ensure excellent service and continuity of care
  • Helping create a calm, supportive environment during what can sometimes be an emotional experience for clients

Why This Role Matters

As the first person our clients and their pets encounter, you’ll help set the tone for their entire experience with CHS. Whether you’re welcoming a new veterinary client, helping a family navigate a pet surrender, or supporting someone who has just adopted a new companion, your kindness and professionalism can make a meaningful difference.

If you’re someone who loves people, pets, teamwork, and making a difference, we’d love to hear from you!
