The Wholesale Nursery Manager oversees all aspects of wholesale nursery operations, including production, inventory management, order fulfillment, and customer relations. This leadership role requires proven experience in a wholesale nursery environment and a strong understanding of plant material, supply chain management, and customer service for professional clients. The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized individual who excels at building relationships with landscapers, municipalities, and other wholesale buyers.

  

This position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Operational Oversight: Manage the daily operations of the wholesale nursery, including production, order processing, and logistics.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory of plants and hard goods; ensure proper labeling, organization, and stock rotation to meet customer demand.
  • Wholesale Sales & Customer Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale clients—including landscapers, municipalities, contractors, and other trade professionals—to grow sales and provide exceptional service.
  • New Business Development: Identify and cultivate new wholesale customers through outreach, relationship building, and professional networking.
  • Production Coordination: Work with growing and production teams to forecast plant demand, schedule crops, and maintain a consistent inventory of high-quality plant material.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and support wholesale staff; promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and customer service excellence.
  • Quality Control: Oversee plant health and presentation to ensure all plant material meets wholesale standards for quality and consistency.
  • Logistics Management: Coordinate the loading, staging, and delivery of large orders to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Vendor & Supply Coordination: Work with suppliers to secure materials, containers, and other inventory necessary for wholesale operations.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce company and regulatory safety standards across all wholesale operations.
  • Training Completion: Participate in or lead required training sessions, including Safety Training, Product Knowledge, and Customer Service Best Practices.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a wholesale nursery or large-scale horticultural operation
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong plant identification skills and understanding of nursery production practices
  • Customer Relations: Experience working directly with landscapers, municipalities, contractors, and trade customers
  • Business Development: Proven success in developing new customer accounts and maintaining long-term relationships
  • Leadership: Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license required; CDL and/or pesticide applicator license preferred
