Kaiser – Newark / Welder/Fabricator
Job Summary: As a member of the Kaiser–Newark team, you will be relied upon to achieve optimum productivity while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Our Welders/Fabricators are key positions within our team, and they take immense pride in the aluminum that we produce.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Fabricate materials from drawings, sketches, or samples.
- Performs precision and critical welding (Stick, MIG, TIG), cutting, burning, etc.
- Makes layouts and templates in fabricating parts
- Able to air arc and use an oxygen lance.
- Able to straighten, bend, and temper materials.
- Performs all structural welding to steps, platforms, stairs, hand railing, etc.
- Performs all hydraulic pressure vessel welding on piping.
- Experienced with the following materials- Steel, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, Cast Steel, Aluminum, and Brass
Qualifications:
- This position requires a very safety oriented person and keeps safety as a core valve in the performance of the job.
- Able to communicate and work with operators, other maintenance employees, engineers, and supervision
- Reads and interprets Lockout Procedures, Safe Job Procedures, Work Orders, Preventive Maintenance Procedures, Engineered drawings, diagrams, and charts
- Works in the fabrication shop as well as in the operational areas.
- Able to work alone or as part of a Team.
- Able to work at heights and to wear a fall protection harness.
- Able to work in Confined Spaces.
- Able to wear a respirator.

- MEWP- Man lift/Scissor Lift
Required Testing
- Classroom Welding/Fabrication Test
- ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX, QW-301Welder Performance Qualification Test
- AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code/Steel
Job Type: Full-time Positions/ Starting Hourly Pay: $34.99/hour
Schedule:
- Mon-Fri 7:00am to 3:00pm / OT as required.
- Weekends scheduled for planned outages and repairs, as needed.
- Extend hours for emergency repairs are possible.
Supplemental Pay Types:
- Shift Differential
