Permanent | Full-time
We’re looking for a Welcome Team Coordinator to provide a warm, calm and professional in-person experience for patients attending Deptford Medical Centre or Penrose Surgery.
This is a front-of-house, patient-facing role. All phone calls, emails and online requests are handled centrally, so this role focuses on welcoming patients, supporting safe patient flow and contributing to proactive patient care within the practice.
Patients don’t always arrive at their best. They may be unwell, anxious or worried. You’ll help patients feel listened to and supported, while also helping clinical teams by making sure patient information and observations are accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors to the practice.
- Support safe and smooth patient flow.
- Use empathy and de-escalation skills to manage difficult situations.
- Collect and record patient observations and medical vitals.
- Keep reception and waiting areas clean, safe and welcoming.
- Escalate urgent in-person concerns when needed.
About You & Working Hours
What we’re looking for
- Someone who enjoys working directly with people.
- Clear, compassionate communication skills.
- Calm and professional under pressure.
- Organised and comfortable using IT systems.
- A team player who cares about patient experience and quality care.
- Healthcare experience is helpful but not essential. We’ll provide full training and ongoing support.
All roles are rota-based and include opening and/or closing shifts.
We don’t offer middle-of-the-day-only shifts.
- 37.5 Hours Per week
- Compressed hours (8:00am – 6:30pm)
- Flexible patterns including early and late shifts
All Welcome Team Coordinators must be comfortable opening and closing the practice, including locking up.
