The project

We are seeking a Web Application Developer to join our team and contribute to building, maintaining, and optimizing large-scale WordPress VIP applications, with a focus on backend development and DevOps. Our internal dev team specializes in building modern, reliable, and user-friendly web platforms that meet the unique needs of government agencies. 
Key Responsiblities:

  • Develop and code WordPress VIP websites from concept to completion, ensuring seamless functionality, user experience, and scalability.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain backend solutions for WordPress VIP projects.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers and project managers to design, build, and maintain robust content management systems and decoupled WordPress environments.
  • Set up and configure WordPress VIP environments for new and migrated websites, including development, staging, and production setups.
  • Lead the migration of websites from legacy systems or other CMS platforms to WordPress VIP, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal downtime.
  • Perform comprehensive site audits prior to migration to identify potential challenges related to data integrity, performance, and security.
  • Create migration scripts to transfer content, media, and functionality from existing websites to the WordPress VIP environment.
  • Set up and configure WordPress VIP environments for new and migrated websites, including development, staging, and production setups.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to map legacy content structures and custom functionalities to WordPress VIP's architecture.
  • Automate workflows and deploy websites using DevSecOps best practices.
  • Manage continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines, ensuring seamless delivery and updates to applications.
  • Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure using WordPress VIP.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve backend and infrastructure issues related to scaling, performance, and security.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging, ensuring clean, maintainable code.

Compensation and Term 

This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position. Pay varies with experience up to $95,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire. 

Qualifications you need

A successful Web Application Developer possesses or provides the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a focus on software development.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in web development and WordPress, with a strong focus on WordPress backend development and website migrations.
  • Expertise in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL for building dynamic WordPress websites.
  • Proven track record of migrating websites from legacy systems or other CMS platforms to WordPress.
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress, including the platform's security, performance, and scalability features.
  • Strong knowledge of migration tools and scripting techniques for seamless content and data transfers.
  • Proficiency in DevOps tools and practices.
  • Solid understanding of API development, third-party integrations, and database management.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues during migrations, with a focus on performance optimization and security.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and agile development methodologies.
  • Experience in security compliance and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with WordPress VIP a plus.
