ABC17 News is looking for someone who wants to help grow the station’s news product while growing his/her own career. The company is looking for a weekend weather caster. The right candidate will be excited to join a vibrant team of journalists who remain on the cutting edge of this constantly changing field.
Job Description:
The weekend weather caster's duties include anchoring and producing weather forecasts for news programming and online platforms. The position is expected to lead extended coverage of severe weather across multiple platforms as directed by the chief meteorologist. There will be daily upkeep of the station’s website and social media pages along with producing content for our media partners and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The right candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively, have strong organizational skills, be comfortable on camera and have a strong professional appearance. We prefer a candidate with experience using the Baron Lynx weather system and that has a good understanding of severe weather and tracking storms. This is a part-time position, scheduled on Saturdays with opportunities for fill-in work and flexibility required by the employee. A college degree or a student pursuing a degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences or a related field is preferred. Candidate must have a valid Missouri driver’s license and pass a drug test and background check.
