Wealth Management - Asia Solutions Product Development & Governance (Discretionary, Funds & Alternatives) - Vice President
The Asia Solutions Product Development & Governance team is focused on delivering high-impact investment product initiatives across Wealth Management, including new products and business solutions, product governance and development, regulatory initiatives, and process enhancements. The team partners closely with Investments, Cross-Asset Trading, Managed Solutions, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Controls, Operations, Technology and other functional stakeholders to design, implement and support product capabilities across the Asia platform. The broader Asia Solutions Product Development & Governance team team supports both Asia-driven initiatives and global or International Private Bank-wide initiatives. Investment management products and services are a core offering within the Private Bank, covering a broad range of investment strategies and structures, including discretionary portfolios, separately managed accounts, hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate, private credit, mutual funds and exchange traded funds.
As a Vice President in Asia Solutions Product Development & Governance - Discretionary, Funds & Alternatives, you will support the development, management and governance of discretionary, funds and alternative investment solutions for the Asia Wealth Management platform. This is not a portfolio management role. The role is focused on product development, product management, governance, operating model design, implementation and control execution across the product lifecycle. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across Investments, Managed Solutions, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Controls, Operations, Technology, Business Management, Marketing, Finance and Tax to drive product initiatives, strengthen governance practices, support regulatory and business change, and enhance the operating platform for discretionary, funds and alternatives in Asia. The role will be based in Hong Kong.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive product development and product management initiatives for discretionary portfolios, separately managed accounts, mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, private equity, real estate, private credit and other alternative investment solutions across Asia.
- Support the prioritization of Asia-specific initiatives within the global and regional product pipeline, assessing feasibility, commercial viability, client relevance, regulatory considerations, operational readiness and implementation complexity.
- Lead workstreams across strategy definition, governance assessment, solution design, stakeholder engagement, approval, implementation and post-launch embedding.
- Develop and manage product implementation plans, including milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, benefits, decision points and senior management updates.
- Support product governance processes, including new business and product approval procedures, risk identification, issue escalation, control remediation and documentation of governance decisions.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Controls, Operations, Technology, Investments, Business Management, Marketing, Finance and Tax to identify, assess and mitigate risks related to product development, product governance and operating model changes.
- Act as a local subject matter expert for discretionary, funds and alternatives product processes, procedures, documentation, controls and governance expectations.
- Own and maintain relevant product processes, operating procedures, product documentation and governance materials, ensuring they remain accurate, practical and aligned with the Asia operating model.
- Support implementation of changes arising from significant industry, business, regulatory or internal control developments.
- Identify current-state process inefficiencies, product governance gaps, control issues and operational risks, and develop practical solutions to improve the platform.
- Liaise with local stakeholders and communicate Asia-specific considerations within the regional and global organization, while preparing high-quality materials and updates for senior management, including progress updates, risks, issues, options, recommendations and required decisions.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- 7+ years of experience in Private Wealth Management, Asset Management, Investment Banking, product development, product management, product governance, process re-engineering, business management or a related field.
- Strong understanding of discretionary investment solutions, funds and alternative investment products, including discretionary portfolios, separately managed accounts, mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, private equity, real estate and/or private credit.
- Demonstrated project management discipline, with experience managing multiple workstreams in fast-paced environments and delivering complex initiatives on time.
- Ability to evaluate product initiatives through a commercial, regulatory, operational, risk and control lens.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, product governance, approval processes, control frameworks, issue management and documentation standards.
- Ability to diagnose current-state processes, identify risks, inefficiencies and opportunities, and design practical, scalable solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to propose recommendations, challenge assumptions and drive adoption across business and control partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex product, governance, regulatory and operational topics into clear messages for senior management and cross-functional audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues and navigate legal, compliance, technology, operational and behavioral constraints while meeting business objectives.
- Proactive, accountable and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and the ability to operate independently.
- Fluency in English required.
