What would you be doing at Woodard & Curran-Abingdon?
Woodard & Curran is looking for Pretreatment Technician that will be responsible for inspecting industrial and commercial facilities as well as food service establishments to ensure their wastewater complies with local, state, and federal environmental regulations by collecting samples, monitoring flow, and identifying possible violations. You will review and update safety standards by performing routine inspections on safety equipment. In this position you will maintain inspection records and related reports. You will use and update pretreatment software and assist the Pretreatment Coordinator in other job duties related to the position.
This position is eligible for a $1,500.00 sign-on bonus.
Schedule:
Hours 7:00a.m.-3:30p.m. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position. Availability for standby duty and the ability to be “on-call,” working evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Response to emergency events and alarm callouts required as scheduled and required.
Work Environment:
- Primarily working outdoors with occasional office work
- Travel in a company-owned vehicle
- Participation in training workshops
What would you need to succeed?
- High School Degree or Equivalent.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License required.
- An environmental science background or any equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
- Lab experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to problem solve and perform analytical testing on wastewater in a lab environment.
- Ability to make sound decisions in process control and follow instructions, as well as follow safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with the public, industrial facilities, and regulatory agencies
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- Data management and technical skills are a plus.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
