Position Overview

The Warehouse Associate I will assist in a variety of Materials Management or Operations functions including incoming material receipt and inspection, inventory cycle counting, SAP inventory management, internal inventory requests, shipping, receiving, and distribution of goods and supplies. The Warehouse Associate I will provide support to ongoing process and method development, characterization and validation and assist in production activities including labeling and packaging.  The position will work within defined protocols and procedures and may develop and document new procedures for Materials Management.

Essential Duties

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Receive, inspect and verify incoming materials. 
  • Follow applicable SOPs for the processing of materials in SAP and through the Receiving Inspection system. Label materials accordingly.
  • Contact appropriate person/department with receipt details as applicable.
  • Place materials in inventory, deliver goods or coordinate pickup of materials.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve inventory and receipt discrepancies, coordinating with procurement and finance teams for resolution.
  • Initiate freight claims process by documenting all problems noticed in the initial inspection. The documentation may include pictures, notations on Bill of Ladings, driver’s notation and notations on packing slips.
  • May initiate Nonconforming Material Reports and ensure nonconforming materials are appropriately labeled and segregated.  Follow through to ensure final disposition is completed and documentation is closed.
  • May initiate process improvements following the required change control processes, and coordinates activities across departments. This will include the Receiving Inspection Method document (RIM) review.
  • Facilitate shipment of outgoing materials or products through the coordination of inventory and paperwork.
  • Support all departments within the organization by pulling the correct inventory for use, following the proper state shipping guidelines and processing in SAP for shipment.
  • Package and process materials to be shipped in a manner consistent with IATA, DOT and International Customs regulations. Label packages accordingly and ensure the proper paperwork accompanies each shipment.
  • Receive training and remain current on dangerous goods shipping.
  • Call carriers to arrange for pickups or facilitate with in house representatives.
  • May provide training to new employees in areas of expertise.
  • File or disseminate all receiving and shipping documents to the appropriate person/location.
  • Work with the Inventory Management Department to maintain inventory and associated records for raw materials, intermediates, disposables and spare parts.
  • Supports inventory management in SAP.
  • Document data related to department KPIs.
  • Participate in projects relating to continuous improvement as an individual contributor or team member.
  • Ability to accurately follow procedures with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within the Operations department.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention-to-detail necessary in a GMP environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in team situations as well as independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Support and comply with the company's safety and environmental procedures as well as spearhead safety compliance for all warehouses.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for approximately 10% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 80% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or related field; or high school degree/general education diploma and 2 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • 1+ years of experience in a warehouse setting or operations role of a similar capacity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a forklift certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an operations role in a similar capacity.
  • Experience in a biotech manufacturing environment, preferably in a GMP and/or ISO13485 environment.
  • 1+ years of experience with SAP or other ERP systems.

Salary Range:

$35,000.00 - $56,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
