IT Equities Technology
Jefferies’ Equities Technology team builds and runs global, real-time trading and risk platforms across the full equities product spectrum—cash equities, portfolio/algo trading, central risk books, listed & OTC derivatives, convertibles, swaps, and ETF/basket trading. The team supports front-office workflows end-to-end, including order management, quantitative trading, real-time position and risk, AI/ML analytics, trade lifecycle processing, and regulatory/customer reporting.
Operating in a 24x7 follow-the-sun model across major trading hubs, the India Technology Innovation Hub will be a core engineering center working closely with New York, London, Hong Kong, and other regions to build and enhance high-performance, scalable systems using technologies such as Python, Java, C++/C#, cloud, modern visualization, low-latency messaging, and in-memory data stores.

Job Title: Technical Lead – Securities Finance Technology

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Team Lead to join our Securities Finance Technology team in Pune. This role will be responsible for leading the India-based development team and contributing to the design, development, and delivery of strategic trading and securities finance platforms used by a global user base.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in Java, Spring, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and enterprise application development, along with proven leadership experience in managing delivery teams. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders, technology partners, and global teams across New York, London, and Hong Kong to deliver high-quality, scalable, and resilient solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of developers across Java and C# technologies, ensuring high-quality engineering practices and timely delivery.
- Design, develop, and maintain core components of the Securities Finance technology platform.
- Drive the development of scalable distributed systems and enterprise-grade applications.
- Own end-to-end project delivery, including sprint planning, estimation, code reviews, testing coordination, release planning, and production rollouts.
- Collaborate closely with global technology teams and business stakeholders to align on priorities, requirements, and technical direction.
- Act as a key point of contact between the Pune team and global teams across New York, London, and Hong Kong.
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions while ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Promote engineering best practices including clean code, automation, DevOps, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and delivery reviews.
- Support production stability by contributing to issue analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of systems.
Required Skills and Experience
- 12 years of hands-on software development experience, primarily in Core Java and Spring / Spring Boot frameworks.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and managing end-to-end software delivery.
- Strong experience in designing and building distributed systems, microservices, and enterprise-grade applications.
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Experience with messaging, caching, and streaming technologies such as Kafka and Redis.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EKS, EC2, S3, SQS, and SNS.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
- Ability to lead Agile ceremonies and drive predictable, high-quality delivery.
- Experience with DevOps practices including:
- CI/CD pipelines
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Source control and build tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, and Bamboo
