Role OverviewWe are looking for a Technology Strategic Sourcing Manager to join the Tech COO function, focusing on shaping sourcing strategies, evaluating vendor options, and partnering with Procurement and Technology teams to deliver strong outcomes across software, cloud, infrastructure, and IT services.This role focuses on partnering closely with Technology, Procurement, and control functions to shape sourcing strategies, evaluate vendor options, and support end-to-end sourcing outcomes across key technology domains including software, cloud, infrastructure, and IT professional services.The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of technology, vendor landscape, and commercial considerations to enable structured, forward-looking sourcing decisions aligned to business and technology priorities.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing & Vendor Strategy
- Develop and drive sourcing strategies across technology categories such as software, cloud, infrastructure, and IT services
- Evaluate vendor landscape and identify solution options aligned to business and technology objectives
- Support vendor optimisation initiatives, including consolidation and introduction of alternative solutions
- Contribute to vendor strategies that enhance flexibility, interoperability, and reduced dependency on single vendors where appropriate
Requirements Definition & Solution Evaluation
- Partner with Technology stakeholders to define and refine requirements
- Translate business and technical needs into structured sourcing and evaluation approaches
- Assess vendor solutions across capability, scalability, resilience, and long-term alignment
Go-to-Market & Sourcing Execution
- Design sourcing approaches including vendor strategies and evaluation frameworks
- Prepare sourcing materials and inputs required for market engagement
Commercial & Negotiation Support
- Provide input into commercial discussions, including pricing structures, licensing, and service models
- Ensure alignment between commercial terms and intended solution design
- Support contract discussions by providing relevant technology and business context
- Collaborate with Procurement teams to support RFI/RFP/RFQ processes and vendor selection
Stakeholder Management & Business Partnering
- Act as a key interface between Technology, Procurement, and control functions
- Build strong partnerships to drive alignment and effective decision-making
- Influence sourcing outcomes through structured analysis and recommendations
Governance & Risk Alignment
- Ensure sourcing activities align with internal governance frameworks and third-party risk requirements
- Support processes and documentation required for audit and compliance
Pipeline Planning & Market Insight
- Drive forward planning of sourcing activities, including renewals and upcoming initiatives
- Apply market insights, benchmarking, and spend analysis to inform sourcing decisions
RequirementsExperience
- 6–12+ years of experience in technology sourcing, procurement, consulting, or vendor management
- Experience working across technology domains such as software (SaaS/on‑prem), cloud, infrastructure, and IT services
- Exposure to vendor evaluation, sourcing strategy, or category management
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong analytical and structured thinking ability
- Ability to translate business needs into sourcing approaches and solution options
- Good understanding of technology vendor landscape and market dynamics
- Commercial awareness across pricing, licensing models, and contracts
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
Domain Knowledge
- Familiarity with technology architecture and solution considerations
- Understanding of sourcing, procurement, and vendor engagement processes
- Experience in financial services or regulated industries is an advantage
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or related field
- Professional certifications (e.g. CIPS) are advantageous
