The VP of Research will provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for Cquesta's cutting-edge research program. This pivotal role involves overseeing the day-to-day activities of our molecular biology and plant transformation teams, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance across all research initiatives. The VP of Research will also be responsible for managing critical collaborations with academic partners, including the Salk Institute, Danforth Center for Plant Science, and the University of Illinois, as well as fostering relationships with commercial partners and government funding agencies. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled communicator and accomplished writer, capable of articulating complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences and driving successful research outcomes through effective collaboration and strategic partnerships.
Role Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive oversight and strategic direction for the entire research program, encompassing the molecular biology and plant transformation teams.
Source, lead and manage collaborations with academic institutions (Salk Institute, Danforth Center for Plant Science, University of Illinois), commercial partners, and government funding agencies.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Cquesta’s research objectives.
Prepare and write high-quality patent applications to protect Cquesta’s intellectual property and work with Cquesta’s legal team to manage Cquesta’s IP strategy.
Draft compelling grant proposals to secure government funding for research initiatives.
Negotiate, manage, and execute research partnership agreements with commercial entities.
Communicate research findings, strategies, and progress effectively to internal teams, collaborators, and leadership.
Foster a highly collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting scientific excellence and professional growth.
