About RudderStack

RudderStack is a warehouse-native customer data platform enabling companies to collect, govern, and activate real-time customer data for analytics, personalization, and AI-powered/agentic applications.

Backed by S28, Kleiner Perkins, and Insight Partners, RudderStack is trusted by leading AI-native companies such as Lovable, Hex, n8n, Vercel, and Seamless, along with multiple Fortune 100 global enterprises.

About the role

  • We are looking for a VP of Operations to build and run the operating backbone of RudderStack. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role at the intersection of technology, process, and execution.
  • You will work closely with the CEO, Product, Engineering, GTM, Customer Success, Head of Finance, and Head of People to ensure the company scales efficiently, predictably, and with high operational rigor.
  • This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation, MBA-level business judgment, and experience driving impact in high-growth infra/SaaS environments, ideally with roots in management consulting.

What you'll do

  • Company-wide Operations & Execution
    • Own and drive the company’s operating cadence: OKRs, planning cycles, quarterly execution, and cross-functional alignment.
    • Translate company strategy into clear execution plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
    • Identify operational bottlenecks and proactively drive resolution across teams.
  • Technical & Infrastructure-Aware Operations
    • Partner closely with Engineering and Product to understand infra, data pipelines, reliability, cost structures, and scaling constraints.
    • Drive operational rigor around cloud costs, efficiency, margins, and capacity planning.
    • Ensure operational decisions are grounded in a strong understanding of the underlying technology.
  • Go-to-Market & Revenue Operations
    • Work with Sales, Marketing, and CS leaders to improve pipeline hygiene, forecasting accuracy, deal velocity, and expansion motions.
    • Support pricing, packaging, and monetization initiatives with data-driven analysis.
    • Help scale enterprise-grade operational processes without slowing velocity.
  • Finance, Planning & Metrics
    • Partner with Finance on budgeting, headcount planning, unit economics, and board-level metrics.
    • Own dashboards and KPIs across the business, ensuring leadership has clear, actionable visibility.
    • Support board meetings, investor updates, and strategic planning.
  • Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives
    • Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives (new product launches, AI strategy execution, org scaling, systems changes).
    • Bring a consulting-style approach to ambiguous problems: structured thinking, clear recommendations, and decisive execution.

Qualifications

  • Experience & Background
    • Technical background (engineering, data, infra, or similar) with the ability to engage with product and engineering leaders.
    • MBA from a top-tier school (e.g., Stanford, Wharton, Harvard, INSEAD, Kellogg, Booth, etc.).
    • 8+ years of total experience, including:
    • In operations roles at infra / developer-focused / SaaS companies, and
    • Management consulting experience (MBB or equivalent strongly preferred).
    • Outstanding candidates who do not meet minimum requirements will be considered
    • Experience operating in high-growth, ambiguous, scaling environments.
  • Skills & Attributes
    • Strong analytical and structured thinking; able to break down complex problems quickly.
    • Deep comfort with data, metrics, and systems.
    • High ownership mentality — willing to get hands-on while thinking at a strategic level.
    • Excellent communicator who can influence across functions without authority.
    • Executive presence with the ability to operate credibly with the board and investors.

Why this role is interesting

  • Direct impact on how a category-defining data infrastructure company scales.
  • High exposure to the CEO, leadership team and board.
  • Opportunity to shape operations at the intersection of real-time data, AI, and enterprise SaaS.
  • A platform to grow into broader leadership roles as the company scales.
