Jefferies is creating a Technology Innovation Hub in Pune, a greenfield opportunity to build the systems that power global markets. IT Equities Technology   
Jefferies’ Equities Technology team builds and runs global, real-time trading and risk platforms across the full equities product spectrum—cash equities, portfolio/algo trading, central risk books, listed & OTC derivatives, convertibles, swaps, and ETF/basket trading. The team supports front-office workflows end-to-end, including order management, quantitative trading, real-time position and risk, AI/ML analytics, trade lifecycle processing, and regulatory/customer reporting.  

Operating in a 24x7 follow-the-sun model across major trading hubs, the India Technology Innovation Hub will be a core engineering center working closely with New York, London, Hong Kong, and other regions to build and enhance high-performance, scalable systems using technologies such as Python, Java, C++/C#, cloud, modern visualization, low-latency messaging, and in-memory data stores.


Role Summary

Jefferies India is seeking a technically strong and delivery-focused Senior Developer to join the Equities Technology – Equity Derivatives team in Pune. This role will help drive engineering excellence across key initiatives delivered from India, while collaborating closely with technology stakeholders and senior engineers across London and New York.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on development expertise in Java, solid experience with enterprise technologies, strong SQL/database skills, and exposure to cloud, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. Experience in Investment Banking / Financial Services, particularly Equity Derivatives, would be highly valuable. Exposure to or willingness to code in C# is preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, maintainable, and high-quality software systems. 
  • Contribute hands-on to development while providing technical guidance to the team. 
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and technical stakeholders in London and New York to align on architecture, design patterns, and technical direction. 
  • Actively participate in technical decision-making and ensure solutions meet business, performance, and reliability requirements.  
  • Drive code quality through rigorous code reviews, unit testing, and adherence to engineering standards. 
  • Mentor and support junior developers, promoting a culture of learning, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Partner with Product Owners, Tech Leads, and business/technology contacts to clarify requirements, assess feasibility, and manage technical dependencies. 
  • Identify and resolve complex technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and architectural challenges. 
  • Promote consistent engineering practices across teams, including branching strategies, CI/CD workflows, documentation standards, and development best practices. 
  • Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and long-term maintainability of systems.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of software development experience, with recent experience in a senior or lead development role. 
  • Strong proficiency in Java and enterprise application development. 
  • Experience with, or willingness to additionally code in, C#. 
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database design.  
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. 
  • Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern software delivery methods. 
  • Proven experience delivering scalable, maintainable, and reliable software systems. 
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, architecture, and development best practices. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with global stakeholders across multiple time zones.

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience in Investment Banking / Financial Services, ideally within Equity Derivatives. 
  • Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures. 
  • Background in mentoring junior developers and supporting team capability development. 
  • Exposure to modern observability, monitoring, and production support practices.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree or above, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
