VP - Investments Asia

The Opportunity:

Accial Capital is looking to hire a VP of Investments. The position is a great opportunity for a mid-senior professional to advance their career at the intersection of fintech, private credit, technology, and impact investing at an entrepreneurial fast-growing asset management firm. The VP will be instrumental in expanding deal origination and performing due diligence on Accial’s investment opportunities in Asia. The candidate is expected to significantly contribute to strengthening Accial’s impact framework.

About the position:   

We are looking for a smart, driven professional to successfully originate investment opportunities and maintain relationships with existing portfolio companies. The successful candidate combines a deep understanding of fundamental credit analyses, impact investing, and structured credit, with strong quantitative affinity. The candidate will work on prospective new investments across multiple deal stages including deal sourcing, due diligence, structuring, and legal documentation. The candidate will also represent Accial Capital at conferences, industry events and other situations within the assigned region.  This role will report to the CIO.

Key responsibilities include:

• Origination: Maintain and refine a deep knowledge of market participants and borrowers across Accial’s markets through which we will identify the next great set of lenders to add to the portfolio. Attend industry events and develop strategic partnerships with relevant actors in the space that can contribute to deal sourcing (i.e. venture capital firms, accelerators, industry associations, etc).
• Investment due diligence: Lead borrower due diligence, including on-site due diligence, digging into drivers of success, risk, client protection and impact. Closely work with our risk, legal, and technology teams to advance and close transactions. Negotiate terms and structure. Prepare and present investment memos to the Investment Committee. Follow relevant market and macroeconomic developments closely.
• Impact: Execute Accial’s impact framework in due diligence and monitoring of investments. Help further develop impact-linked incentives to encourage companies to deepen their impact on gender, climate, and governance.  
• Portfolio management: Assist risk team with ongoing portfolio management as needed.   
• Train and upskill: Constantly refine and improve the Accial approach to private debt and impact. Coach team members.   
  

Required Qualifications

• Experience: minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in private credit or closely related field such as venture capital, private equity or investment banking. Demonstrated track record of successfully sourcing credit transactions in emerging markets strongly preferred.
• Communication Skills: Successful candidates will be expert communicators with diverse stakeholders, including borrowers, colleagues, peers, investment committee members, and prospective investors. Excellent knowledge of English is required, knowledge of other languages used in Asia would be useful.
• Travel: Willingness and ability to travel for origination, due diligence and team gatherings up to ~20% of the time.
• Cultural Fit: Ability to work independently, proactively, and in a fast-paced environment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.   Master's degree, preferably in business, economics or finance optional.

Location

The role is remote so there is flexibility, but there is a strong preference for local presence in target countries within Southeast Asia  and willingness to travel within the region
