- Clear ownership, not decision by consensus
- First principles over inherited patterns
- Shipping systems, not slide decks
- Fast feedback from reality, not opinions
- Define the metrics that matter, with clear owners and sources, and connect infrastructure consumption, platform activity, contracts, billing, and financial results in one set of numbers teams can trust and trace.
- Turn reporting into action: identify issues, quantify their impact, assign follow-through, and verify results.
- Build a detailed understanding of the costs of delivering Auger's platform to our enterprise customers, including compute, model inference, storage, networking, third-party services, implementation, and ongoing support.
- Establish meaningful unit economics for the work the platform performs, connecting resource consumption to completed workflows, executed decisions, and customer value.
- Partner with engineering to evaluate capacity, architecture, vendor commitments, and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Make implementation effort, time to value, cost to serve, gross margin, net revenue retention, and CAC payback visible and actionable.
- Measure how customer economics change as additional solutions reuse what Auger's platform already understands about a business.
- Identify customers and contracts with unsustainable economics.
- Own pricing and packaging
- Own pricing strategy and the economics behind it, so every price reflects the value we deliver and what it costs us to deliver it.
- Build a deal-review process that holds each contract to those economics.
- Recommend how pricing should evolve as customers adopt more solutions and the platform reuses what it already knows.
- Own the operating model, budget, rolling forecast, cash forecast, and scenario planning.
- Establish weekly operating reviews and monthly financial reviews that explain performance, surface risks, and drive decisions.
- Build practical processes for purchasing, vendor management, spending approvals, and investment evaluation.
- Own financial reporting, the close, and controls. Reconcile the books, operating dashboards, billing systems, and cash, and coordinate tax and compliance specialists.
- Deliver clear reporting to leadership and the board on ARR, net revenue retention, gross margin, burn, cash requirements, and risks.
- Build the team, systems, and automation required to support Auger as it scales.
- Experience owning operational finance at a SaaS or enterprise software company, ideally one with usage-based pricing and significant cloud or AI infrastructure costs.
- A record of building financial models, operating metrics, reporting, and processes from the ground up.
- Strong command of SaaS metrics (ARR, net revenue retention, gross margin, CAC payback), unit economics, cost allocation, pricing, capacity planning, and cash management.
- You work directly with detailed data in SQL and business intelligence tools, and with engineering on compute consumption, model costs, instrumentation, and billing.
- Sound accounting judgment, including revenue recognition for subscription and usage-based contracts, and the ability to oversee a reliable close and financial controls.
- Evidence that your work has produced measurable improvements in efficiency, margins, or cash performance.
- The judgment to introduce structure that helps people execute without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

What We Do
About Auger Auger is a pioneering venture to build the world's first true end-to-end supply chain operating system. Founded and led by Dave Clark, former CEO of the Amazon Consumer Business and backed by an initial $100M from Oak HC/FT, Auger is building a future where global supply chains operate with the simplicity of today’s most intuitive consumer technologies. Revolutionizing global supply chains with an AI-powered OS unifying data for seamless, real-time insights, and powerful automation. Our Solution Auger is creating a new solution for companies seeking better options. Auger’s core strength lies in its deep AI-powered automation, paired with a consumer-grade user experience. This combination allows operators to handle complex tasks through simple, familiar tools. Need real-time inventory insights for next week’s shipment? Just ask. Actionable data appears instantly, enabling swift decisions—no complex queries or training required. Why We’re Different Traditional supply chain management is fragmented, relying on incompatible systems and inefficient workarounds. Many companies are stuck with “Franken-software”—patched-together solutions that fail to communicate effectively. Auger is different. We integrate deeply with existing systems, use AI to automate routine processes, and deliver a cohesive user experience that feels intuitive and natural, letting your team focus on what matters: driving growth, innovation, and sustainability. A Human-Centered Approach Broken supply chains don’t just impact businesses—they affect people. Delays mean products don’t reach shelves, miscommunications lead to overtime and burnout, and inefficiencies drive up costs and contribute to a growing carbon footprint. We believe supply chain problems are human problems, and we’re here to solve them. At Auger, we’re on a mission to make global supply chains more efficient, more sustainable, and ultimately, better for everyone.
