Your areas of responsibility will entail:

Technology and Modernization:

• Drive the modernization of legacy applications from monoliths to microservices architecture, ensuring improved scalability, performance, and flexibility

• Lead efforts to modernize development languages and frameworks to stay current with industry best practices.

• Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, DevOps, and quality assurance such as DORA metrics, engineering and operational excellence frameworks, and architecture review forum

• Implement agile methodologies and practices to enhance productivity and flexibility

• Take the right build vs buy decisions to complement our core business or accelerate go to market strategy for key initiatives

Strategic Leadership:

• Define how tech can add to Printful’s moat and develop and implement the strategic technology roadmap

• Own the budget for the entire tech organization, make the right trade-offs and guide investment decisions

• Stay ahead of industry trends and ensure the company remains at the forefront of technology advancements

• Create scalable frameworks to manage incoming requests into the tech, prioritize and roadmap them while working with delivery and product organizations

Team Management:

• Lead an organization wide transformation and restructuring initiatives to create a high-performing technology organization that fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement while creating a sense of positivity and excitement

• Create leaders and senior leaders as well as manage low-performers

• Create the right learning programs to cross-skill and up-skill current team members

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with stakeholders to align technology initiatives with business objectives

• Communicate the technology strategy and progress to stakeholders, including the executive team, board of directors, and investors

IT and Vendor Management:

• Oversee IT setup, including IT Administrators, on-premises server deployment in warehouses, and traditional IT services

• Ensure the smooth operation and security of all IT systems and infrastructure

• Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners, ensuring optimal service delivery and cost-effectiveness

What we expect from you:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

• Proven experience (15+ years) in a senior technology leadership role, preferably in an eCommerce, SaaS environment

• Familiarity with best practices in PHP, Laravel, AWS, Kubernetes, RDS, GitLab, and Jenkins as well as modern frameworks such as React, GraphQL, NextJS, Java, NoSQL

• Strong understanding of cloud computing, microservices architecture, DevOps best practices, and security

• Demonstrated experience in modernizing legacy applications including migration of monoliths to microservices and modernization of programming frameworks

• Proficiency in implementing industry standards such as DORA.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute methodically

• Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget

• Passion for innovation and a deep understanding of the latest technology trends
