The Position
This VP of Data Consulting is responsible for leading an internal team at The Tie dedicated to supporting a top-tier L1 blockchain. It is a client-facing role dedicated to fostering strong relationships with multiple points of contacts within our client’s organization. In this capacity, the VP will ensure consistent communication and engagement, actively addressing the client’s evolving needs.
In addition to relationship management, the VP will lead a group of data scientists, research analysts, and engineers, setting clear objectives, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality insights and deliverables. This leadership role involves managing many concurrent projects and initiatives, mentoring team members to advancing their skills and careers, and maintaining a focus on exceeding client expectations.
The VP will also take a hands-on approach to identify and explore patterns within our proprietary datasets, leveraging advanced analytics and quantitative tools to empower the client to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate and manage a strong relationship with the client, actively engaging them to understand and respond to their evolving business needs.
- Partner directly with the client to align project priorities, share insights, and implement operational quantitative tools.
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, research analysts, and engineers effectively managing project workloads to ensure timely execution and delivery.
- Oversee the production of high-quality insights and presentations, ensuring delivery that exceeds the client’s expectations.
- Utilize advanced data and analytics tools to empower the client to optimize their decision-making process.
- Foster collaboration across The Tie by sharing knowledge, building reusable internal tools/repos, and brainstorming approaches to solving similar problems.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data science, data analytics, or data engineering.
- Exceptional client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and build strong relationships.
- Demonstrated leadership with a proven track record of successfully managing a team.
- Technical expertise: Data engineering, data visualization, Python/R, SQL, AWS.
- Strong interest in cryptocurrency and its applications.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, with a willingness to embrace new projects and challenges.

Salary range: $165,000 - $200,000 (commensurate with experience)
