About UpDoc

At UpDoc, we are building the first clinically validated, physician-supervised AI agent that manages chronic diseases. We are an early-stage startup founded by Stanford physicians.

We are seeking a talented and driven Commercial leader with a proven record of success to join our team.

While this is a remote role, candidates must be physically located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Opportunity

We are seeking our first Commercial leader to define and lead UpDoc’s commercial strategy as we bring a clinically differentiated AI platform to health systems and provider organizations. This executive will build trusted relationships with healthcare leaders, establish a repeatable go-to-market model, and convert early customer interest into durable, scaled partnerships.

This is a hands-on builder role. The right person will be equally comfortable shaping market strategy with the CEO, opening doors with health-system executives, navigating complex enterprise sales, and creating the commercial infrastructure required for growth.

What You’ll Do
  • Own UpDoc’s end-to-end commercial strategy, including target-market prioritization, positioning, pricing, partnerships, enterprise sales, contracting, implementation readiness, and account expansion.

  • Build and manage a high-quality pipeline of health systems, medical groups, and other strategic provider organizations.

  • Develop trusted relationships with health-system CEOs, CFOs, CMOs, CIOs, Chief Digital Officers, population-health leaders, service-line executives, and other economic and clinical buyers.

  • Lead complex enterprise sales cycles involving clinical validation, security, compliance, procurement, legal review, IT integration, implementation, and executive approval.

  • Create a compelling clinical and financial value proposition that connects UpDoc’s capabilities to outcomes, access, workforce capacity, quality, and cost.

  • Design partnerships and phased implementations with clear success measures; ensure seamless conversion of successful pilots into enterprise deployments and expanded relationships.

  • Establish commercial operating discipline, including pipeline definitions, forecasting, account planning, CRM practices, metrics, and executive reporting.

  • Bring customer and market insight into company strategy, product priorities, evidence generation, and roadmap decisions.

  • Partner closely with Product, Clinical, Engineering, Operations, and leadership to ensure commercial commitments translate into excellent customer and patient experiences.

  • Over time, recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing commercial organization aligned with UpDoc’s stage and growth.

Who You Are
  • A senior commercial leader with significant experience selling complex clinical, digital-health, or AI-enabled solutions to health systems and provider organizations.

  • Deeply connected across the healthcare system, with relationships built through credibility, execution, and long-term partnerships—not simply a large contact list.

  • Proven in lengthy, multistakeholder enterprise sales cycles and able to identify the clinical champion, economic buyer, technical approver, executive sponsor, and implementation owner.

  • Experienced in moving customers from initial interest and pilot programs to scaled, multisite or enterprise deployments.

  • Able to translate clinical outcomes and operational impact into a persuasive financial and strategic case for healthcare executives.

  • Fluent in the realities of provider adoption, including evidence requirements, EHR and workflow integration, security, compliance, procurement, change management, and clinical trust.

  • A hands-on operator who can personally sell and build the function before hiring a larger team—and who is comfortable with ambiguity, limited infrastructure, rapid iteration, and early-stage accountability.

  • A clear, credible communicator with strong judgment and the ability to represent UpDoc with customers, partners, investors, and industry leaders.

  • Committed to responsible healthcare AI and unwilling to overstate product capabilities or clinical evidence.

Especially Valuable
  • Experience in chronic disease management, population health, value-based care, virtual care, remote patient monitoring, or AI-enabled care delivery.

  • Experience working inside a health system as well as commercializing technology to health systems.

  • A record of building a commercial function, go-to-market motion, or new market from an early stage.

  • Experience working with clinically validated or regulated healthcare products.

  • Existing relationships with leading U.S. health systems and medical groups that would take your call because of prior successful work together.

What Success Looks Like
  • A focused, evidence-based go-to-market strategy with clearly defined priority customers, buyers, use cases, messaging, and commercial milestones.

  • A credible pipeline of qualified health-system opportunities, with disciplined forecasting and clear next steps.

  • Strategic partnerships that progress from executive alignment through contracting, implementation, measurable outcomes, and expansion.

  • A repeatable commercial model that UpDoc can scale without compromising clinical quality, customer trust, or patient outcomes.

  • A strong feedback loop between customers and UpDoc’s product, clinical, and company strategy.

Skills Required

  • Physically located in the San Francisco Bay Area

  • Ability to translate clinical outcomes and operational impact into financial and strategic value propositions
  • Knowledge of provider adoption, evidence requirements, EHR and workflow integration, security, compliance, procurement, change management, and clinical trust
  • Hands-on experience building a commercial function or go-to-market motion in an early-stage environment
  • Strong communication, judgment, and customer, partner, investor, and industry representation skills
  • Commitment to responsible healthcare AI and accurate representation of product capabilities and clinical evidence
  • Experience in chronic disease management, population health, value-based care, virtual care, remote patient monitoring, or AI-enabled care delivery
  • Experience working inside a health system and commercializing technology to health systems
