What You Will Be Doing
The VP, Assistant Controller is responsible for facilitating the Bank’s accounting operations. While working in conjunction with the VP, Controller, this position is responsible for validating all accounting team tasks and ensuring processes are being completed timely and accurately.
How You Will Get the Job Done
- Leadership, Management & Accountability (LMA): Leads, manages and holds accounting staff accountable for achieving agreed-upon commitments and demonstrating a One Team mentality. Dependably demonstrates a relentless obsession with values alignment, customer service, focus, simplicity and clarity. Maintains a strong leadership presence, motivating staff and building commitment to the Bank’s priorities and direction.
- Tax Reporting: Reviews income tax and tax deferral calculations for the financial statements of the Bank and Holding Company. Tracks taxable events and coordinates the submission of workpapers for the external CPA’s. Is responsible for ensuring multiple tax payments and returns are submitted in a timely manner.
- Bank Accounting: Manages accounting team members to ensure journal entries, accounts payable, vendor management, and other duties are performed accurately and timely. Creates entry schedules that the accounting team follows throughout the year. Monitors daily activity for accuracy and addresses issues as they arise, calculates the allowance for credit losses, assists with applying new standards and product implementation, creates general ledger accounts, administers the Bank’s employee credit card programs, administers the month-end close cycle, and performs confidential entries.
- Holding Company Accounting: Accounts for all Holding Company transactions and tracks its’ shareholder activity, including treasury stock, stock options, stock grants, and dividends. Prepares its’ periodic financial statements for internal use.
- Subject Matter Expert: Knowledgeable of the banks financials and systems and can resolve many of the discrepancies that may come up. Is capable of being the accounting teams voice when it is needed to complete various projects/initiatives. Evaluates spreadsheet formulas and outputs for accuracy.

Professional & Educational Experience You Bring
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from a college or university and 7-10 years of experience in an accounting or related position; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA preferred.

For this position, we anticipate a pay range between $110,000 and $135,000 annually. Final offers will vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and Bank performance.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to type, carry, handle and feel objects, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception in the window environment and the ability to adjust focus.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Local travel is expected for this position

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with an emphasis in accounting, business, or finance
- 7-10 years of experience in accounting
- 3-5 years of experience working in financial institutions
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPA certification
- Expert knowledge of accounting and banking industry policies, procedures, and regulations related to the role
