We are looking for an experienced VDI engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following job responsibilities as a core contributor to our growing team. We are looking for a team member who will thrive in a culture that values teamwork, customer focus, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

As part of our team we will look to optimize the end user experience for our VDI users. As a result of this we are looking for a team member who works with a customer service focused attitude and focus.

Here’s what you'll do

  • VMware VDI Design and Implementation:
    • Design, configure, and deploy VMware VDI solutions, including Horizon View, vCenter, and ESXi.
    • Develop and implement architecture plans and strategies for scalable and reliable VDI infrastructure (including multi-region deployments).
  • Operational Management:
    • Manage and maintain the health, performance, and reliability of VMware VDI environments.
    • Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to VMware components.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
    • Monitor VDI systems for performance, security, and reliability issues.
    • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to the VDI infrastructure.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement security best practices and ensure VDI systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
    • Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • User Support and Training:
    • Provide technical support to end-users for VDI-related issues.
    • Conduct training sessions for IT staff and end-users on VDI usage and best practices.
  • Backup and Recovery:
    • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery plans for VDI environments.
    • Test and validate backup and recovery processes regularly.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed documentation of VDI configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Generate regular reports on system performance, usage, and incidents.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with cloud vendors and internal engineering stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of VDI systems.
    • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for support, procurement and maintenance.

Here’s what you’ll need

  • Possesses recent VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Desktop and Mobility Deployment (VCAP-DTM-*) certification.  Experience and other certifications may be a good substitute as well.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud deployments, including co-location facilities and management of the vendors.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
  • Network design and troubleshooting experience, ideally with some work experience in enterprise networking. This role requires substantial networking experience to design, implement and troubleshoot.
  • 5+ years of experience working in enterprise environments of 2000+ desktops.
  • Due to Federal Government contract requirements, we can only hire US Citizens for this role.

$140,000 - $190,000 Salary is determined by a combination of factors including location, level, relevant experience, and skills. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. The compensation package for this position may also include equity, and benefits.
