Summary:

Chadwick School is seeking a creative, digitally fluent storyteller to join our Marketing and Communications team as Visual Content & Social Media Manager.  In this role, you will shape how the world sees Chadwick — producing compelling photography, video, and social media content that reflects the school’s Mission, voice, and values across every digital touchpoint. This is a highly collaborative, cross-departmental role that blends creative production with strategic thinking. You’ll work closely with faculty, staff, and students to capture authentic moments and craft narratives that resonate with prospective families, current community members and alumni alike. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Major Responsibilities:


Photography

  • Cover school events for social media and departmental needs, coordinating permissions, releases and media distribution.
  • Plan and execute magazine-quality photo shoots, including complex multi-department productions, with expertise in lighting, lens selection and editorial composition.
  • Provide advanced Photoshop editing for use across the website, advertising, banners, posters, catalogs and Chadwick’s annual Compass magazine.
  • Maintain the school’s online media database; oversee photo-sharing programs with faculty, staff and families.

Social Media

  • Develop and execute Chadwick’s social media strategy, including a master content calendar, messaging framework and channel-specific best practices.
  • Manage and grow the school’s presence across platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo and emerging channels.
  • Write, edit and proofread posts; shoot and produce social media video content; and continuously optimize for reach, engagement and enrollment impact.
  • Monitor weekly analytics across platforms and generate actionable reports with recommendations for improvement.

Video Production / Video Editing

  • Pre-Production: Develop creative briefs for major multimedia projects, including outlining goals and objectives and establishing analytics for measuring and reporting on project results.
  • Video Production: Shoot video using HDSLR and cinema camcorders, design/install lighting and design/record professional sound; or experienced in the management of freelance production support.
  • Post Production: Edit videos, including the addition of graphics, titles, sound and music. Strong command of the principles of editing and visual storytelling. Export videos in proper codecs for use on social media, including YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and Instagram, as well as for use in presentations and on the website.

Cross-Functional & Strategic Responsibilities

  • Stay current with the latest versions of software for editing, graphics and sound, taking training courses when necessary.
  • Advise departments across campus on social media, photography and video best practices.
  • Champion diversity and inclusive representation in all visual content, ensuring equitable portrayal of students, faculty, staff and operations.
  • Uphold Chadwick’s brand standards and quality guidelines across all digital communications.
  • Stay current with trends in social media, visual storytelling and digital communication technology; take training courses as needed and share recommendations with the team.
Qualifications, education, experience and skill requirements

Qualifications:

  • Relevant work experience in film, photography, advertising, design, public relations, journalism, communications, or related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of professional videography and photography experience with expertise in visual storytelling. Portfolio required.
  • Advanced knowledge of editing with Premiere Pro, sound and graphics software. Understanding of basic editing principles, color correction and sound design.
  • Advanced knowledge in video production, with experience working with both lean and full production crews.
  • Knowledge in video exporting, understanding codecs, resolution, frame rates, bit rates and proper formats optimized for Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube, and in-person screenings.
  • Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge and Canva, and the ability to manipulate and format images for use in print and electronic media.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under tight and often changing deadlines, and an ability to work collaboratively across various departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate confidently and diplomatically with a wide range of audiences with different informational needs.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and simultaneously managing several multimedia projects in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Must be a team player who is highly motivated and aligned with the Mission and Core Values of Chadwick School.

Compensation $43.00 - $50.00 hourly - based on experience and qualifications


Work Environment and Physical Requirements 


  • This role is based on campus. Some evening and weekend availability is expected to cover school events. Local travel (off-campus athletic events, field trips, etc.) is occasionally required.
  • The physical demands of this role are consistent with a dynamic creative production environment: the ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., move equipment, and work in varied indoor and outdoor settings. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities
