Knowesis is currently seeking an exceptional Virtualization Platforms - JWICS Specialist to join our team and provide invaluable support to the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) Bridge contract.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must have a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance and possess United States Citizenship without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future. Applicants without proof of United States Citizenship will not be considered due to the position's security clearance requirements.

The Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Engineer, design, install, configure, and optimize virtualization platforms for the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) network
  • Provide system and engineering support for documented and approved projects and tasks on the JWICS virtualization infrastructure
  • Ensure all engineered solutions are in compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Department of Defense (DoD), and OIG policies and standards for TS/SCI systems
  • Ensure engineered virtualization solutions are designed to maintain the highest availability and service dependability on the JWICS network
  • Maintain existing and, as required, develop new documentation that includes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and System Architecture Guides and Diagrams, adhering to organizational templates, policies, and standards for JWICS virtualization platforms
  • Perform root cause analysis of critical outages and incidents on JWICS virtualization infrastructure, engineer permanent solutions, and coordinate implementation
  • Support the OIG Project Management Office (PMO) and Enterprise Architect (EA) during requirement analysis to develop technical solution options for JWICS virtualization
  • Provide OIG management with proposed configurations, optimizations, and system improvement plans for JWICS virtualization platforms
  • Work with the OIG PMO to establish and meet project milestones to ensure all solutions meet documented customer requirements and are within project scope
  • Follow all OIG Change Management and Engineering Review processes and ensure changes are completed according to the project and release manager schedule for JWICS systems
  • Work as part of a project team to engineer and develop migration plans for existing services, ensuring minimal service interruption on JWICS
  • Engineer and design virtualization hardware solutions as required to ensure the capacity and availability of OIG services on JWICS
  • Engineer, install, configure, optimize, support, and design solutions that incorporate DoD security requirements such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Host-Based Security System (HBSS) for JWICS virtualization platforms
  • Perform VMware V-Motion and Storage V-Motion operations to migrate virtual machines with zero downtime
  • Configure and manage Network/Storage Input/Output (IO) Control for optimized resource allocation
  • Configure port groups, Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) networking, and Network Interface Controller (NIC) teaming on VMware for JWICS
  • Implement and manage VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for maintaining business continuity and performing disaster recovery (DR) activity on JWICS
  • Perform creation, management, and configuration of Virtual Machines, clones, and templates in the JWICS environment
  • Manage the snapshot manager and perform the restoration of snapshots for JWICS virtual machines
  • Perform installation, configuration, and administration of VMware infrastructure on the JWICS network
  • Utilize VMware console or desktop remote admin tools to analyze and resolve JWICS workstation and server issues
  • Maintain strict adherence to all Sensitive Compartmented Information security protocols and procedures
  • Meet OIG established service level metrics and performance standards for JWICS virtualization operations
  • Travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) and the National Capital Region (NCR) may be required to attend meetings, conferences, and training

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering, or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in virtualization engineering, systems engineering, or IT infrastructure design and implementation
  • Extensive experience with VMware virtualization platforms (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi)
  • Experience working in classified environments, specifically with Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information systems
  • Experience with JWICS (Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System) network operations and support
  • Experience with VMware V-Motion, Storage V-Motion, and Network/Storage IO Control
  • Experience with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and disaster recovery operations
  • Experience creating, managing, and configuring virtual machines, clones, and templates
  • Experience with snapshot management and restoration procedures
  • Experience with VLAN networking and NIC teaming configurations
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and compliance requirements for TS/SCI virtualization systems
  • Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Host-Based Security System (HBSS) implementation in classified environments
  • Experience with change management and engineering review processes in classified environments
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to create technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and system architecture diagrams
  • Experience working in a government or DoD environment with classified systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail required for classified operations
  • Current Top Secret/SCI security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level I or higher certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M guidance (Security Plus, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or similar)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) - Data Center Virtualization
  • VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) - Data Center Virtualization Design or Deploy
  • VMware Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX) - Data Center Virtualization
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3 or later certification
  • Experience with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Joint Service Provider (JSP) Data Center environments
  • Experience with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Dell, or Cisco server hardware platforms
  • Experience with storage area networks (SAN) and network-attached storage (NAS) in classified environments
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems in virtualized environments
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veritas NetBackup) for virtual environments
  • Experience with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) vulnerability scanning in classified virtualized networks
  • Experience supporting multiple classification levels (JWICS, SIPRNet, NIPRNet)
  • Project management experience and ability to serve as Project Lead for virtualization initiatives
  • Master's degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering, or a related technical field
  • Multiple VMware certifications across different technology areas
