Description
As a Virtual Analysis Engineer in GM's Body Manufacturing Product Interface organization, you will help ensure vehicle designs are manufacturable, robust, and aligned with Body Manufacturing Requirements (MRs).
Using advanced math-based tools, simulation software, and digital verification methods, you will evaluate weldability, accessibility, sealing, part handling, and overall body-in-white (BIW) manufacturability throughout the vehicle development process.
You will serve as a technical bridge between Product Engineering, Stamping, Body Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing Integration. Your analysis will provide early, actionable feedback that reduces design changes, prevents downstream manufacturing issues, and enables high-quality, high-volume production.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys digital validation, complex problem-solving, and influencing product design through data-driven manufacturing insight.
What You'll Do
  • Use Siemens Teamcenter, TcVIS, NX, and Tecnomatix Process Simulate/Designer to evaluate compliance with Body Manufacturing Requirements.
  • Assess weldability, sealing, weld-gun access, part handling, and overall BIW manufacturability.
  • Perform manual virtual analyses when automated tools are unavailable.
  • Identify requirement gaps, feasibility concerns, and manufacturing risks.
  • Create and publish manufacturability issue reports for Product Interface, Stamping, Body Manufacturing Engineering, and Product Engineering teams.
  • Develop KPI charts at defined math synchronization points to track requirement compliance, design maturity, and open actions.
  • Clearly communicate findings, risks, and recommended actions to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support virtual manufacturing studies evaluating product placement and compatibility within manufacturing facilities.
  • Analyze robot reach, station constraints, sequencing, access, and other manufacturing considerations.
  • Validate interbuildability and cross-program compatibility at math-based checkpoints.
  • Review design updates and coordinate feedback between Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Recommend process-friendly design improvements and manufacturing-driven engineering changes.
  • Manage virtual analysis activities to meet program milestones and vehicle development timing.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter, TcVIS, NX, and/or Tecnomatix Process Simulate/Designer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience evaluating manufacturability in digital environments.
  • Ability to learn and apply new math-based and virtual analysis tools quickly.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate analysis aligned with program timing.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Body shop launch experience or exposure to BIW manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with BIW tooling design, joining processes, or manufacturing requirement development.
  • Experience with math-based processes and virtual simulation workflows.
  • Robot simulation experience using Process Simulate or an equivalent tool.
  • Familiarity with GMNA Manufacturing Standards, Body Manufacturing Requirements, and GVDP deliverables.
  • Coding or scripting experience in C++, Visual Basic, Python, or similar languages to automate math checks or customize analysis tools.
  • Experience applying artificial intelligence to improve engineering or manufacturing processes.
