Hybrid: his position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as appropriate. Expected time on site 3-5 days a week.
The Role:
The Viewing Performance Calibration Engineer plans and executes testing to develop and calibrate vehicle viewing systems including, including rear view camera, surround view, transparent trailer, interior camera, and others. This position is a blend of working in the vehicle, advanced feature development, data analysis, program management, and will involve extensive hands-on work in the vehicle.
What You'll do:

  • Generate calibrations through modeling, analysis and testing that meet milestone deliverables and customer performance
  • Support viewing stakeholders including software developers, DREs, and validation teams to ensure viewing performance meets customer expectations
  • Understand algorithms in your area of responsibility and participate in developing/improving software and calibration quality and efficiency
  • Conduct calibration reviews for your area of responsibility and participates in peer reviews
  • Identify opportunities to improve calibration process and reduce rework


Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree.
  • 5+ years of overall engineering experience
  • Ability to work with computer-based tools to collect and analyze data
  • Ability to analyze visual displays subjectively and objectively for accuracy and clarity
  • Thorough knowledge of complex mechanical and electrical concepts
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • High level of project management skills and flexibility in handling multiple projects and changing priorities
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the GVDP process


What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)

  • DFSS Black Belt
  • Experience in viewing systems and/or performance calibration
  • Knowledge of the major vehicle systems
  • 7+ years of automotive experience in testing, development, and calibration
  • Experience with JIRA, PRTS, GIMS, and related quality systems
  • Experience with Serial Data busses, including LIN, CAN, and Ethernet
