Your Role

Radio-Canada Estrie is seeking a versatile videojournalist to be based in our Granby station. Reporting to the Associate Managing Editor, Émilie Richard, you will focus on gathering and presenting daily news stories that deeply resonate with the Granby-area community. Your stories will be published on the Radio-Canada Info app and broadcast across all other Radio-Canada platforms. To succeed in this role, you must have a sharp talent for both text-based and vertical video storytelling.

We are looking for a creative, resourceful, thorough and highly independent journalist who excels at breaking down complex information for the public. You must also be able to thrive under pressure, conduct your own research and newsgathering, and confidently package and present your material across multiple platforms.

Please note that this position requires a flexible schedule (including irregular hours) and the ability to travel throughout the coverage area in a Radio-Canada vehicle. You will bring fresh perspectives and creative approaches to our newscasts, working independently to deliver original, high-quality journalism.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years’ journalism experience or equivalent.

Skills:

  • Strong cross-platform storytelling skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain a network of contacts.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices (JSP).
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Premiere editing suite.
  • Comfortable, dynamic and engaging on-air presence.
  • Excellent interviewing skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to generate original story ideas and creative treatments.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and respond quickly to breaking news.
  • Flexibility to contribute regularly to radio programs, national television and digital platforms.
  • High degree of creativity, imagination and drive, along with the ability to break down complex information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency in French; good knowledge of English is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Candidates will be tested as follows:

  • Please include a one-minute vertical video with your application explaining why you are the best fit to cover news and current affairs in the Granby area.
  • Journalism assessment (general knowledge, French grammar and writing).
  • Interview.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next
