Criminal Productions is looking for a temporary full-time Podcast Video & Social Media Producer to join our team.

As a Podcast Video & Social Producer you will be responsible for creating video and social content for our digital platforms. This will range from producing long-form video interviews to short-form social media video clips. You will also create additional social content including image assets, stories/reels, and caption copy. You will work closely with the podcast producers and the podcast marketing team to reflect Criminal Productions’ voice, spirit, and brand.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Produce longform video content for Criminal’s YouTube channel from start to finish (coordinating recording, making initial editorial cuts and decisions, working with a video editor on drafts, and publishing a final version)
  • Produce shortform video content for Criminal’s YouTube shorts channel, as well as social media platforms - translating podcast moments into compelling visual stories
  • Upload archival Criminal podcast episodes to YouTube
  • Create compelling thumbnails, titles and copy for YouTube videos (including shorts)
  • Coordinate and collaborate with show producers to create a social media plan around promoting new episodes across all of our podcasts, as well as upcoming events, important initiatives, and more
  • Develop and produce engaging social content for each Criminal Productions show— including image assets, GIFs, stories/reels, motion graphics, video cut-downs of episodes, and platform-specific variants
  • Optimize content for platform performance (length, format, captioning, hashtags, thumbnails, CTAs) and stay current with algorithm changes and emerging formats
  • Track performance metrics (views, reach, engagement, follower growth, click-throughs to episode/subscribe) and feed insights back into creative strategy
  • Maintain an archive of assets and templates, and iterate efficiency in production workflows
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Demonstrated ability to produce both longform and shortform video content, especially for talk-based or interview-driven formats
  • Excellent storytelling instincts; knowing which moments to spotlight that hook viewers, evoke emotion or insight, and prompt engagement or action
  • Strong understanding of social platforms and their nuances: Instagram (feed, stories, reels), TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook - including what drives performance, how users engage, and what makes shows grow
  • A collaborative, consultative working style and the ability to plug into existing teams to help elevate their visual presence.
  • Solid skills in editing short-form video tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects) and comfort with static image design (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva) and motion graphic templates
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/shows simultaneously, prioritize under tight deadlines, and collaborate closely with teammates
  • Attentiveness to performance metrics and a willingness to adjust accordingly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in podcast media or editorial-driven media brands
  • Familiarity with audio editing or podcast production workflows a plus
WHO WE ARE

Criminal Productions is the home of the podcast Criminal - as well as the podcasts This is Love, Phoebe Reads a Mystery, and their newest podcast: Please Continue with Phoebe and Lauren.

Criminal is one of the most-listened to podcasts in the United States, and has been called “the thinking person’s true crime podcast.” Founded in 2014, Criminal has been praised by the ACLU of New York, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, and by the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern.

In 2018, the Criminal team launched This is Love. Time Magazine says, “The podcast tries to decode the mystery of how our romances, obsessions, and relationships drive us. Listening to it can feel like a contact high.” Phoebe Reads a Mystery features Criminal and This is Love host Phoebe Judge reading some of her favorite books in the public domain - from Sherlock Holmes to Little Women.

Please Continue is our newest venture - an “unserious” chat show featuring Phoebe Judge and Criminal co-creator Lauren Spohrer in conversation about everything from offbeat crime stories to Costco shopping tips. One listener called their dynamic “comedy gold.”
