This is an in office position. Only local candidates to Tulsa will be considered.
We're looking for an energetic, creative and focused Video Script Writer who is passionate about storytelling and genuinely cares about video. You'll join our first in-house video pod in Tulsa, working alongside a video lead and a video producer.
You'll turn research, expert calls and hands-on product tests into scripts and shot-by-shot storyboards before anyone films. That includes paid ads, organic social content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Reddit, and short lifecycle videos for email, retargeting and onsite. A locked script and storyboard make the shoot faster, cut down on reshoots, and give our editors a clear target. Ideas and scripting are the most valuable skills on this team, so you'll spend most of your time pitching, writing and sharpening. You'll also write companion articles that turn the same research into written content.
The pod also needs an on-camera face for the category. Could that be you?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pitch new video ideas every week, with a clear hook and format for each
- Turn research, consumer reviews, expert calls and hands-on product tests into tight scripts for organic, paid and lifecycle videos
- Write multiple ad variants (hooks, lengths, calls to action) for paid testing
- Script short lifecycle videos for email, retargeting and onsite journeys
- Build shot-by-shot storyboards so the shoot runs fast and the editors know exactly what to deliver
- Write strong hooks for the first few seconds of every video
- Adapt one idea into multiple lengths and formats across organic, paid and lifecycle
- Write companion articles based on the same research
- Join shoots to make sure the script works on camera, and adjust on the fly
- Fact-check claims and keep scripts in line with ConsumerAffairs editorial standards
- Study performance data (retention graphs, click-through, comments, shares) and use it to make the next script better
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Credentials
- 1–3 years of experience in writing, content or video
- A portfolio of scripts, videos or writing, including things you've made on your own outside of class or work

- Understands the difference between content that earns views and content that drives a click or sign-up
- A clear, conversational writer who can write for the ear, not just the page
- Comfortable doing research and interviewing experts
- Able to sketch out a storyboard using whatever tool works (paper, Canva, Figma, Frame.io, etc.)
- AI native: uses AI tools to research, outline and draft faster
- Curious, proactive and excited to try new formats and strategies
Nice to Have
- Wants to be on camera and could serve as the category's on-camera host
- Experience writing ad creative or UGC-style ad scripts
- Background in journalism, communications, broadcast, film or digital media
- Basic video editing skills
- Interest in consumer products, reviews or personal finance
