The Role
MaxPreps, a division of PlayOn Sports, is America’s Source for High School Sports — connecting fans, athletes, and communities through the stories and highlights that define local sports culture. We celebrate the young men and women who inspire their hometowns through dedication, teamwork, and excellence.

We’re looking for a Video Editor who is passionate about high school sports and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This is a highly hands-on role focused on delivering timely, high-quality video highlights and editorial content that power MaxPreps.com and our broader video ecosystem.

You’ll work closely with our editorial and video teams to ensure video content enhances storytelling across the site — from breaking highlights to larger editorial initiatives, studio shows, and sponsored programs. This role is ideal for a sharp editor who loves execution, collaboration, and seeing their work featured front-and-center.

The Outcomes You’ll Deliver

  • A high volume of daily video highlights delivered to MaxPreps.com.
  • Video content featured prominently within editorial articles and key site placements.
  • Consistent on-time delivery of video when operating on tight deadlines.
  • Strong video support for all major editorial initiatives.
  • Polished, reliable video execution for sponsored programs and studio/video shows.

In This Role, You Can Expect To

  • Edit daily highlights: Cut and package game highlights and video content for MaxPreps.com on a daily basis.
  • Partner with editorial: Work directly with the editorial team to ensure video is embedded seamlessly into articles and key storytelling moments.
  • Hit deadlines: Edit and deliver video quickly when breaking news or time-sensitive highlights are needed.
  • Support sponsored content: Assist with editing video assets for sponsored programs and branded initiatives.
  • Contribute to shows: Help edit video used in studio productions and recurring video shows.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with the full MaxPreps video team to maintain consistency, quality, and efficiency.
  • Explore new tools: Leverage or experiment with AI-powered tools to enhance video production workflows and output.

To Thrive In This Role, You Have

  • A strong passion for hands-on video editing and content creation.
  • The ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort working cross-functionally with editorial and video teams.
  • High attention to detail and pride in delivering clean, polished edits.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays — when high school sports are at their best.
  • 1+ years of video editing experience, with proficiency in tools such as Final Cut, CapCut, or similar editing platforms.
  • Interest in or experience using AI tools to improve speed, quality, or creativity in production workflows.

How You Play

  • Ownership over Participation – You take responsibility for achieving holistic outcomes, prioritize key objectives, and adapt quickly when situations require a different approach. You follow through even against the toughest challenges.
  • Team over Stars – You are a bridge builder, establishing processes and relationships with teams outside your own. You work to rally around common goals, find win-win solutions, compromise when necessary, and help others succeed.
  • Growth over Comfort – You are driven by a desire to grow and actively seek opportunities to expand your comfort zone, skills, and confidence. You embrace new challenges with curiosity, accepting discomfort and failure as opportunities to learn.
  • Fairness over Popularity – You approach decisions with a scientist’s mindset, challenging your assumptions and remaining objective. You consider long-term impact rather than relying on short-term gains, proactively seek others’ perspectives, and manage emotions in decision-making.
