We are looking for a Reel Magician – Video Editor 

Are you ready to wield your editing wand and weave cinematic spells? We're seeking a highly creative and skilled Reel Magician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, bringing stories to life through your expert editing skills. We value innovation, attention to detail, and a passion for storytelling. If you are eager to push the boundaries of video editing and make a significant impact, we would love to hear from you.

You know how to film, how to direct, and how to work with talent. This is a hands on role where you’ll be videographer numero uno!


Who are we?

HelloAge is a social identity run by MyPlanAdvocate, a Medicare agency that offers health insurance plans and support to seniors and other Medicare eligible consumers in the United States. The purpose of HelloAge is to discuss the overall concept of aging in the US, and to find interesting ways to bring the discussion to a broad audience.

HelloAge is not an overtly advertorial channel, and instead focuses on sharing stories from around the US with shorts and interviews with everyday people on their thoughts, experiences and opinions on everything from falling in love, to growing older, to navigating healthcare in our country and beyond.

Within this role, you will have a big role to play in the direction that we take with this, and we welcome new ideas to test out. We embrace an entrepreneurial/startup mindset, and want someone who loves film, cinematography and all things visual to capture lightning in a bottle for our followers!

 

What you’ll do:

  • Edit video content for various platforms such as social media, websites, and broadcasts, ensuring that the final product aligns with the company's vision and audience's expectations.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and other team members to understand project requirements and contribute creative ideas for storytelling and visual effects.
  • Utilize a wide range of editing software and tools to cut footage, insert music, sound effects, and special effects to enhance the video's impact.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
  • Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.
  • Experiment with styles and techniques, including the design of graphic elements.
  • Provide final polishing of video projects, including color correction, sound mixing, and ensuring optimal video quality.
  • Archive and organize video footage for easy access and reference.

 

You possess:

  • Proven experience as a Video Editor with a strong portfolio showcasing your editing skills across a variety of projects.
  • Expertise in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
  • A keen eye for detail, aesthetics, and visual composition.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Creativity and the ability to tell compelling stories through video content.
  • A willingness to stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in video editing technology.
  • A love for social media, doom scrolling, and sharing videos of things like puppies.

Physical Requirements 

  • Sitting: Extended periods (80%+) with proper posture. 
  • Walking: Moderate frequency (20-30%) for meetings and office interactions. 
  • Screen Time: Extensive use (8-10 hours) of computer screens and mobile devices. 
  • Hearing & Vision: Clear for communication and information processing.
